And our work depends on an Oracle Database Administrator joining our team to support the United States Postal Service (USPS) in Raleigh, NC. The US Postal Service must provide the above service to Postal customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Work schedules will vary based upon the needs of the PostaI Service. Candidates will be sought to support different shifts to enable 24x7 support. Candidates may be required to carry a phone and be on call. This individual will be expected to work independently or semi-independently with a minimum of guidance or direction.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
* Perform in a technical leadership role in the planning, development, implementation, maintenance and support of a centralized organization for total support of the Oracle database environment executing national production applications on the USPS' Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure throughout the United States
* Lead the development of standards and procedures, both operational and functional
* Support and maintain Oracle RDBMS products and services and support USPS applications that execute under them in a large, complex and widely distributed UNIX and Microsoft Windows operating system environment
* Develop and maintain project plans in accordance with US Postal Service standards will be required
* Weekly status reporting will be required
* Perform other duties in support of the organizations mission as directed by FCSC/DSS management
* Excellent communications skills, both oral and written are required
* Excellent people skills, an enthusiastic can-do attitude, willingness to do what it takes to get the job done
* Travel and flexibility are all required attributes of successful candidates for this position. Interaction with other Postal organizations and individuals, such as developers and end users, will be necessary in order to understand applications and resolve problems
* Schedule: Weekends from 12pm to 12 am
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* A minimum of ten (10) years of Oracle experience is required
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or associated discipline preferred
* Experience upgrading, installing, and maintaining Oracle RDBMS products and services
* Experience supporting and maintaining an efficient Oracle RDBMS production environment
* Experience diagnosing and resolving complex problems in an Oracle RDBMS environment
* Experience developing and implementing procedures that support, maintaining and enhancing the Oracle RDBMS environment
* Experience develop and implement procedures that enable potential problem detection and avoidance, including disaster recovery planning and implementation
* Perform logical and physical data base design (entity relationship modeling/CASE methodology and CASE tools)
* Knowledge, experience and ability with Microsoft NT server operating system
* Preferred experience with database monitoring tools such as Oracle Enterprise manager and/or strong experience
* Experience with database monitoring tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, preferred
* Experience with Microsoft Access, Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, preferred
* Experience with the design of three-tier architecture, preferred
* Experience with Oracle stored procedure programming (Oracle PL/SQL), preferred
