Principal Global Fixed Income is looking for Senior Traders for High Yield and Investment Grade.

n

As a Sr. Fixed Income Trader, youu2019ll be responsible for maximizing client portfolio performance through trading, including day-to-day buying and selling of securities for portfolios/client accounts. Youu2019ll conduct research and analysis on companies/industries to maintain knowledge of relative value of assets and provide portfolio managers and analysts insights into market activity. In addition, you will also assist with the development of lesser experienced team members.

Accountabilities:

n

* Direct sector accountability and ownership for building and sending trades. May also have portfolio manager responsibilities (i.e. authority in the investment decision making process/accountable for achieving investment performance results for a sleeve/sector of a broader portfolio)n
* Identify, analyze and execute relative value trades (e.g. electronic and over the counter). Determine best combination of negotiated price, size and service to buy and sell transactions within Best Execution guidelines established by portfolio managers, firm and/or client. Analyze and model trade ideas/ transactions, monitor open positions to determine what to let expire and what to exercise, and ensure trades are properly (completely/accurately) documented. Efficiently execute trade activities to ensure appropriate balance of best execution and market-imposed time constraints for each trade. Act as spokesperson in client update meetings, due diligence meetings, finals presentations with prospective clients and consultants and in internal committees.n
* Contribute to multi-sector discussion and strategy meetings. Conduct research and analysis on companies/industries to maintain knowledge of relative value of assets, aid senior analysts and portfolio managers with making informed investment decisions (e.g. provide insights into market activity) and to develop trading strategies; recommend ideas and solutions as appropriate. Evaluate and validate lesser experienced trader's work for quality and completeness, ensuring alignment with portfolio / client investment objectives.n
* Maintain knowledge of financial markets, current events, and global/U.S. economies and monitor industry and competitive environment. Proactively develop and foster positive relationships with industry contacts (e.g. Wall Sreet traders, brokers) to ensure constant flow of relevant information; utilize relationships to obtain best price, new issues allocations, research and other brokerage services.n
* Assist with the development of staff in an environment that embraces change, fosters focus, teamwork, creativity, timeliness and results that are measured and recognized. n
* Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.nn

Qualificationsn

Weu2019re looking for someone with:

* Bachelor's degree in a technical field (finance, accounting, economics, statistics, engineering, data science, business analytics)n
* 8+ years' work experience with fixed income strategies in a trading, research, portfolio management or strategy capacity required.n
* CFA designation and MBA preferred. n
* Familiarity with programming languages (ie/Python, MATLAB, R) preferred.n
* Deep understanding of financial accounting and economic theory, global financial markets, fixed income products and trading strategies and demonstrated experience in market cycles requiredn
* Ability to influence and negotiate, apply reasoning, and exhibit sound decision making related to best execution and market-imposed time constraints with each trade.n
* Strong abilities in the areas of leadership (formal or informal), communication (verbal and written), time management, analytics, and financial modeling.n
* Advanced skills with Excel and Bloomberg.n
* Collaborative, able to build and maintain strong relationships, manage expectations, attend to details, multi-task and prioritize effectively.n
* Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with, and present to, internal and external contacts and make decisions quickly and effectively in a highly competitive environment with incomplete information is criticaln
* Keen sense of curiosity and open-minded thought process desiredn
