Plans, coordinates and directs the activities of assigned staff that design and implement computer-based solutions for Valero's enterprise data management technologies as part of the Information Services (IS) Business Intelligence team. The primary focus will be the planning and execution of projects, solving business problems, and improving planning, control, or operating results and objectives. Also includes supporting existing reporting, analytics and data management solutions. Serves as a liaison with the business on technology objectives, plans, goals and project activity. Works in close collaboration with team members, end users, and other IS departments to meet the company's goals, and implement solutions that leverage technology to accomplish strategic business objectives.

Job Duties:

* Primary focus is to work on the design and implementation of projects that involve business intelligence solutions, as a manager of multiple large projects, or the manager of project managers and other business resources. Responsibilities will include the successful and reliable implementation of highly complex cost effective systems/architectures while meeting business needs.
* Supports business intelligence tools, systems and business users by managing, planning, coordinating and directing activities of staff for highly complex solutions with a high degree of technical expertise as well as business understanding. This includes the use of Valero's system to track support activities.
* Works on highly complex tasks for the deployment of new solutions and enhancements/fixes to existing solutions. These include, but are not limited to: defining systems scope, gathering requirements, documenting design & technical specifications, research and fact-finding, configuration, testing, reporting, cutover, IS and business user coordination, troubleshooting, problem-solving, issue resolution, user interaction, and training.
* Selects, develops, motivates and retains a competent staff to meet departmental objectives.
* Develops and maintains strong, effective work relationships with business users, other IS departments and Valero business partners across all departmental and functional lines at all levels within the organization to achieve organizational objectives.
* Demonstrates a broad mastery of multiple business intelligence products/tools and their associated integration while looking for opportunities to improve, streamline, and reinvent business processes.
* Helps coordinate the adoption of new business procedures resulting from system/application changes, including the development of system specifications, documentation, training, and communication plans.
* Performs analysis on and provides recommendations for high quality, highly complex, solutions and stays abreast of emerging and cost-effective technologies. Brings operational efficiency through information integration and management.
* Understands, improves and mentors others on the various IT methodologies which include project management, development, service management and system architecture.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
