OVERVIEW
This is a Leadership role reporting into Global Procurement & Third Party Management (GPTPM), leading a team of Third Party Management (TPM) resources and supporting a large supplier portfolio within Cignas newly announced Evernorth organization.
This individual will understand the ecosystem of Evernorths supplier landscape and facilitate the execution of supplier strategies for the benefit of the overall Cigna organization. The leader in this role must build effective working relationships with senior Executives, associates at all levels and key internal matrix partners across the Evernorth organization and other Cigna business units. The leader in this role must meet objectives in a rapidly evolving, often ambiguous and competitive environment.
This individual will lead a team responsible for Supplier Performance management in support of Care Coordination and eviCore business areas, as a primary focus. The team will be comprised TPM professionals and projects of varying sizes including multi-year services engagements. The individual chosen to lead this team will be accountable to deliver GPTPMs best practices for supplier performance management to the supported Evernorth business segments such that desired supplier outcomes and business objectives are achieved.
Other responsibilities will include:
* Represent GPTPM in the appropriate diligence and planning around potential third parties as appropriate
* Manage and communicate all matrix partner engagements and inputs
* Work effectively with business leads and matrix partners on Category/Portfolio planning and deal pipeline management
This resource must have experience in dealing with dynamic requirements that are tied to strategic level business objectives. In order to effectively manage the work this resource must have experience dealing at the VP and Executive levels to achieve desired outcomes through sourced engagements.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES
Partial list of functions includes, but is not limited to:
* Lead supplier performance management, risk management, contract compliance activities and identify supplier efficiencies with a cross enterprise view.
* Partner effectively with Category Sourcing peers for optimal results
* Direct efforts to define scorecards, metrics, service levels and other performance expectations.
* Oversee monitoring of supplier performance & compliance against agreed upon criteria and contract terms.
* Facilitate the constructive handling or resolution of conflict both internally and externally with suppliers.
* Analyze industries, supply, markets, and sourcing best practices to define alternative supplier relationship structures to meet enterprise-wide requirements, manage costs, and maximize value for dollars spent.
* Develop strategies for assigned categories that include market, spend, strategic importance, geographic considerations, etc.
* Handle escalations, senior level discussions, and influencing outcomes through formal and informal channels with all stakeholders to meet speed-to-market goals, while demonstrating an understanding of risks and facilitating acceptance of risk decisions with the right parties
* Conduct periodic performance reviews with ELT and their largest / most strategic suppliers.
* Partner with leadership and within GPTPM to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Report out to the GPTPM Senior Management Lead and other ELT/SLT leaders on initiatives and progress.
KEY COMPETENCIES AND ATTRIBUTES
General
Strongly preferred:
* Bachelors degree required, masters level degree preferred.
* Ten+ years in strategic sourcing, sales and/or supplier management.
* Five+ years in a healthcare or Pharmacy environment
* Ability to work effectively and comfortably in an extremely fast paced environment with a high degree of ambiguity
* Deep negotiation and relationship management skills.
* Excellent written and oral communications, with ability to interact credibly and persuasively with senior members of Cigna's and suppliers management.
* Excel at managing conflict and improving the performance of key suppliers
* Deep financial and analytical skills and insight.
* Strong management and coaching skills to lead a team of 5-10 with varying levels of expertise.
