Job Description

The Claims team is a face-paced and high-volume team that reviews and processes hundreds of retirement-related transactions per month. The Claims Examiner is both an individual contributor, responsible for managing his or her own caseload, while also being part of a larger team with common goals and objectives all while creating a positive experience for the clients and participants that we service. The successful candidate will produce timely and accurate results, support the team in various initiatives, and possibly represent the team in project work and initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

* Process and quality review a variety of transactions to include benefit estimates and payments, benefit adjustments and recalculations
* Research, interpret, and calculate benefits according to Plan provisions, federal and state regulations, and current procedures
* Review incoming paperwork and documentation for good order
* Validate and update participant records
* Consistently meet quality and productivity standards
* Collaborate with peers and business partners to obtain answers/achieve objectives
* May represent the team in projects and initiatives

Qualifications:

* College degree or minimum of 1-2 years equivalent work experience
* Prior defined benefit or benefits experience is a plus
* Experience in a transaction processing and service-oriented environment that includes quality and productivity standards, and meeting service level agreements
* Strong mathematical and analytical skills
* Ability to make decisions and develop appropriate course of action in times of ambiguity
* Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
* Flexible with the ability to multitask and manage conflicting priorities
* Strong attention to detail
* Proficient with MS Office, specifically Word and Excel
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Flexibility to work overtime when required
