SUMMARY

We have a great opportunity for a Senior Advanced Process Control Engineer to be a part of our DCS team. This role is responsible for support of process control systems within operating units for Westlake petrochemical plants, including process model development, loop tuning, and continuous improvements.  You will be leading and executing projects related to process control systems and continuous improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Analyze the process dynamics, develop, implement, and maintain advanced process control applications, advanced PID control, interlocks, and sequence control

Proactively monitoring and tuning of process control performance including base layer controller uptime, advanced process controller uptime against targets. Develop and implement improvement plans

Support capital improvements to the unit’s APC applications

Troubleshoot respective unit’s sustained regulatory, advanced regulatory and advanced process control problems

Re-evaluate control approaches and performance due to changes in plant operating conditions

Work with control engineers to interface advanced process controller systems to distributed control systems, programmable logic controllers, and laboratory information systems

Support units during turnaround events

Develop and implement changes following site management of change process

Report on usage of APC systems against targets

Work closely with board operators and process engineers to identify and implement improvements

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in a refinery, chemical, or petrochemical plant

Experience with advanced process control applications (multivariable control, complex control loops, control logic)

Ability to read and interpret process flowsheet diagrams, P&IDs, and control logic diagrams

Working knowledge of software application such as AspenTech DMC3, DMCplus, PIMs, SPYRO, Pavilion

Good communication skills (oral/written)

Good work planning skills to handle multiple task with competing priorities.  

Able to work independently and as a team player. 

Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
