Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Kingman is seeking applicants for the position Mechanical engineer.  The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Engineering team and must be committed to excellence in everything we do with the departments on safety, quality, and capital improvements projects for the Division, including contractor oversight.  The primary duties will be to plan, schedule, and implement the engineering, procurement, and construction of each project using outside contractors, engineering firms, and maintenance team to complete projects safely, on time, and within budget and will work collaboratively with the team to support our production and maintenance team and reach our goals.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Willing/able to navigate obstacles in a production environment such as stairs, heights, and tight spaces

Willing/able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including weekends and holidays if production needs dictate

Detailed Selection Criteria:

Engineering Knowledge- Solid understanding and practical application of civil, structural, and mechanical engineering principals
Communication Skills- The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.
Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work- Developing specific goals and plans for prioritizing, organizing, and accomplishing individual work and/or the work of the team
Leadership Presence and Courage- Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating, and supporting change, and production process issues that arise. This includes the willingness to face adversity and conflict head on.
Attention to Detail -Thorough in accomplishing tasks, no matter how small they may be, and taking care to make sure that expectations are met.
Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of computers, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including (Microsoft office, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc...)

Preferences:

Ability to obtain a Professional Engineers License.
Melting, casting, or long product rolling experience
Experience with Industrial Projects and Processes
Equipment upgrade, installation, and commissioning experience
Prior leadership experience and contractor management

The Raw Materials segment produces direct reduced iron (DRI); processes ferrous and nonferrous metals; brokers ferrous and nonferrous metals, pig iron, DRI, and hot briquetted iron; supplies ferro-alloys; and processes ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal, as well as engages in the natural gas drilling operations. This segment sells its ferrous scrap to electric arc furnace steel mills and foundries for manufacturing process; and nonferrous scrap metal to aluminum can producers, secondary aluminum smelters, steel mills and other processors, and consumers of various nonferrous metals.

The company offers its products through its in-house sales forces; and internal distribution and trading companies. The company was founded in 1940 and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
