Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Support activities to ensure compliance with Commercial Food Sanitation (CFS) within the plant. Support the management of the sanitation team.
Provide backup assistances to site Sanitation Manager for daily supervision of sanitation personnel including, but not limited to assigning specific task and areas of work, ensuring sanitors are working safely, efficiently and in compliance with governmental and company policies and procedures.
Work closely with the Sanitation Manager, sanitors, FSQA Manager, members of the FSQA team and members of the food safety team. Communicating challenges and obstacles in timely fashion.
Regular communication with department employees; provide recommendations to the Sanitation Manager. Support employee relations, resolution of employee issues, communicate with Human Resources, administers disciplinary action, and supports coaching of employees
Participate in the hiring and onboarding process of new hires. Administer policies and procedures. Generate and maintain a master sanitation schedule.
Conducts team meetings and offers technicians the opportunity to express themselves on pertinent problems relating to their positions. Participate in employee morale events. Build and develop talent. Conduct training.
Champion and lead an effective safety culture. Coach for safe behaviors and compliance with safety policies and procedures.
Actively participate in accident or injury incidents, including near misses
Supports strategic business needs within the plant to drive sanitation knowledge and improvements
Effectively lead and participate in plant sanitation and cleaning programs. Proactively support sanitation issues including microbiological and environmental control. Provide input for sanitary design implementation 
Support continuous improvement efforts
Examine sanitation issues, which cause product contamination, reduced shelf life, or customer rejection of productions. Support root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation
Provide recommendations for new equipment, modification of existing equipment, and work closely with Engineering and equipment vendors to ensure that new equipment is able to be effectively cleaned and sanitized.
As requested, provide food safety training and/or resources to ensure employees know how to handle food safely and attend trainings
Comply with food safety practices and all applicable requirements as they pertain to SQF and that are maintained
Ensure employees are informed and held accountable for their food safety and regulatory responsibilities
Ensure employees are positively encouraged and required to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues
Ensure employees are empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work
Support company driven food safety improvement initiatives
Other duties as assigned by manager

Sanitation employees (abt 8)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Related Experience/Requirements:

2 Years of (food) production experience required, with a minimum of 1 year experience leading plant sanitation program required. Results oriented, strong attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to prioritize activities in a multi-tasked environment required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

Advanced analytical skills, an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines, prioritize workload and produce results.

Physical Requirements:

The work environment is cool and wet with temperatures ranging from 34 to 38 degrees Fahrenheit. The physical demands of this position are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is primarily asked to stand and walk. Light, periodic lifting will be required. Must be able to lift 25 pounds and must be able to multi-task in a fast paced, noisy environment. Some specific jobs within operation may require lifting to 45 pounds.
