Primary Purpose of Group:

Transmission & Substation Distribution Protection and Modernization is responsible for designing protection schemes and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for equipment within a substation and for certain projects, at remote sites outside the substation. Most projects involve modernizing the distribution system and include interconnection of FEJA Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and Voltage Optimization (VO). Equipment in scope for protection and SCADA include transformers, capacitor banks, buses, regulator controllers, distribution lines (34kV, 12kV, 4kV), etc.

In addition to these primary responsibilities, Engineers are provided opportunities for leadership and professional development: Lead Engineer for Project Design, Manage and Coordinate Databases, Contribute to Industry Working Groups and Committees, Drive Execution of Initiatives, Coordinating Among Multi-Discipline Teams, and Continual Enhancement of the Engineering Skillset.

Department Specific Duties

* Specification and application of data communication systems and SCADA components
* Reviewing project site drawings to develop SCADA point lists
* Design and implement RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) programming files from point lists
* Design and implement HMI graphical screens programming files from point lists
* Support of field Testing Group while commissioning SCADA systems

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelors degree in a technical field (non-engineer) or equivalent relevant education/experience AND 6 or more years of field experience in engineering, construction, or applicable utility experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

* T&S substation knowledge
* Design and understanding of SCADA systems
* SCADA RTU familiarity (RTAC, SAGE)
* Experience with DNP, IEC 61850, SEL Fast Messaging and Modbus protocols
