Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President, Investor Relations & Treasurer, the Director of Investor Relations will play a critical role as part of the Investor Relations team during investor and Wall Street analyst interactions, through analysis and tracking of AES’s Investor base, preparing materials for Earnings and external conference presentations and developing and maintaining reporting for the Vice President, Treasurer & Investor Relations and Executive Leader Team. This individual will help drive the planning and execution across all IR activities and interactions across AES’s investor base as well as with sell-side analysts.

Help manage the strategic planning, development and coordination of investor relations activities, investor tracking and designing materials for key investor events, conferences and meetings with the investor community.

Key Responsibilities include

Provide analytics and tracking to support the IR team in facilitating communication with financial analysts and institutional investors.
Work cross-functionally within AES to help develop key message and corporate Q&A documents.
Help draft earnings announcement press releases, conference call scripts, and presentations.
Support development of other corporate press releases and Q&A's, working with External Communications and regional groups.
Help develop internal and external IR presentations, including reports for senior management and Board of Directors.
Interaction with senior management, preparing them with views from Wall Street and internal teams.
Support peer company and competitor intelligence.
Assist in compiling and analyzing various metrics and analyses across investor base and across the energy, utilities, and industry.
Regular interaction with regional teams to track progress on key developments
Track, manage, summarize and distribute analyst reports, earnings estimates and compilation of analyst financial models.

Qualifications

This role requires a strong combination of oral and written communication skills (including slide presentations) and the ability to interact with internal executives and external investors and analysts.

The candidate must also have a background in analytics (either financial, operational or strategic/consulting). Qualified individuals will be very detail-oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability interact with and build productive working relationships with various levels, functions and teams are critical to the role.

Strong oral and written communication skills (including both written documents and slide decks) required
10+ years of relevant experience on the wall street or the power industry is preferred
corporate finance, M&A and advisory experience
Candidate must have ability to interface effectively at all levels, both internally and externally
Ability to understand and explain/articulate business and science information; some ability to explain and/or learn about scientific and medical information
Position provides opportunity to interact with Wall Street analysts and attendance at investor meetings and Utilities and Infrastructure conferences

Education

Masters or CFA preferred, but not required
