Job Description

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team at the Parsippany - 22 Sylvan Way location in Parsippany, New Jersey.

Job Summary

Responsible for the accurate and timely performance of various assigned functions in support of the month-end close and reporting process. Ensures the accuracy of assigned Managed Hotel financial statements, reports and data files; reviews the financial results and provides communication to management. May identify and implement necessary controls whereby ensuring the Company's financial statements are reported in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). May also be involved on special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and other requests from the sales, marketing, corporate, resort management, and/or finance.

Responsibilities

1. Timely accurate recording of all entries prior to general ledger close in accordance with the Accounting close schedule.
2. Ensures financial statements are presented timely to management in accordance with GAAP, accompanied by appropriate financial variance analysis.
3. Ensures accounting management is appropriately notified of accounting, internal control, and business issues as they develop in order to devise timely & appropriate action plans.
4. Reviews & analyzes financial results for assigned areas in support of the month end close.
5. Communicates financial results and variance analysis to management as assigned.
6. Timely accurate preparation and/or review of assigned balance sheet reconciliations and/or month end schedules.
7. Timely research and resolution of reconciling items with exceptions reported to management for review and consultation.
8. Timely research & resolution of customer inquiries.

Abilities/Key Competencies

Understanding of financial statements and their relevance and interrelations.
Understanding of Accounting controls and regulations and ensure compliance.
Understanding of US GAAP
Complete financial ownership of assigned managed properties including:
o Month end close
o Bank Reconciliations
o Balance Sheet account reconciliations
o Variance reporting
Work is analytical, non-standard and widely varied requiring the interpretation and application of a variety of policies and procedures. Analytic ability and inductive thinking are required for the application of multiple, technical activities. Problem solving involves identification and analysis of diverse issues.

Experience/Certificates/Education
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree required with a major in Accounting or related field.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
1 to 3 years of experience in an accounting
Hotel accounting experience preferred.
Current knowledge of US GAAP.
