What you will do:
The HR Generalist is responsible for providing human resources services and business partner support for assigned business groups and executing human resources project work to support North Division. In order to support assigned business groups, the HR Generalist will work across multiple functions of the HR function including but not limited to positive employee relations, leave administration, compensation, training, talent management, organizational development, HR Compliance and special projects. The HR Generalist assists with executing change initiatives across the business related to talent and HR strategy. The HR Generalist will also be responsible for improving and optimizing current HR processes to make them more effective and actionable for the business.
Your responsibilities:
Develops strong trusted partnerships with business leaders, acting as advisor and partner in the areas of talent management, employee relations, performance and development coaching & counseling.
Provides first-level support for employee requests and employee relations issues such as employee complaints, investigations and all other employee complaints, including attending and documenting interviews, preparing outcome documents and providing recommended actions.
Counsel employees and managers on career planning, conflict resolution and work related challenges. Conduct stay and exit interviews to evaluate work climates and morale.
Leads associate onboarding process, ensuring effective execution by managers; work closely with hiring managers with a focus on successfully integrating and retaining associates.
Partners with Payroll and HR Coordinators for accurate and efficient processing of all new hires, terminations and personnel changes, in a timely manner.
Administers salary actions in partnership with Sr. HR Manager for assigned client groups under the Division Compensation guidance. Ensure fair and competitive wage structure and actions. Lead annual salary review process with respective client groups.
Develops and facilitates performance calibration process with assigned client group to ensure effective and consistent performance management systems in place.
Advises managers, in partnership with the Sr. HR Manager, on performance management including appropriate corrective counseling, training and development, and progressive discipline techniques and processes. Review documentation to ensure consistency with Airgas policies, procedures, and guiding principles. Involve the Legal department or senior HR leadership at the appropriate time. Lead the performance appraisal process for the assigned client group.
Administers all other HR policies and programs. Recommend and implement revisions to policies, programs and practices as needed. Ensure compliance with all state and federal statutes, laws and regulations including but not limited to all applicable wage and hour laws, and regulations related to FMLA, OSHA, EEO and ADA.
Responsible for the creation of custom reporting and dashboards for North Division. Supports manager and employee data/information requests, including quarterly compensation KPIs, Division turnover and other key KPIs.
Responsible for various projects and initiatives to support North Division including but not limited to:
o Engagement and continuous improvement initiatives and projects
o Responsible for severance creation, calculation and notification to Accounting for accrual for North Division.
o Division HR Google Site
o Assist HRVP with quarterly KPIs and monthly reporting in terms of creation, analysis and continuous review to improve this information
o Assist with division annual performance review and merit process.
o Reviewing, analyzing and recommending updates to current HR processes to increase effectiveness and delivery to the business and employees.

What you will need:
A Bachelor's degree in Business, HR or related field.
Prior internship and work experience up to two years post graduate
Entry level understanding of HR principles and practices, employment laws and regulations, and effectively leading comprehensive ER Investigations
Demonstrated ability to be: personable, professional, responsive, knowledgeable, credible, trusted and drive value to an organization.
Understanding of HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems.
Must have excellent organizational, written and oral communication, listening and presentation skills including the ability to effectively present and discuss information and respond to questions from employees and managers.
Intermediate knowledge of Google Applications preferred.
Ability to prioritize workload and self-manage projects, handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
Travel: Ability to travel regionally about 15%, including occassional overnight.
Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures which are applicable to this position's responsibilities.
