Del Amo Hospital currently has positions available for Psychiatric Assistants (Mental Health Workers) in our Nursing Services Department. Days 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Evenings 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. and Nights - 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Includes weekends, may include holidays.
Full and Part Time positions are benefitted positions that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k/Stock programs through Fidelity Investments, PTO, Sick Pay, as well as other flexible options.
The Psychiatric Assistant (Mental Health Worker) provides basic nursing care, aids with activities of daily living, and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment, under the direction and supervision of the Charge Nurse and unit Program Specialist. Duties include but not limited to:
SAFETY AND ASSESSMENT
* Ensure safety of patients at all times. Consistently provide supervision for assigned patients.
* Communicate and document the patient's status and behavior legibly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
* Ensure Patient's Rights and confidentiality are maintained.
* Complete rounds and document findings accurately and timely.
* Follow appropriate observation level for patient.
PATIENT CARE / MILIEU MANAGEMENT
* Perform daily patient care and housekeeping tasks required to maintain patient living areas.
* Obtain accurate vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, and documents information appropriately. Complete graphics sheet thoroughly and accurately every shift.
* Orient patients to the unit. Complete patient belongings and contraband check, performs visual exam of the skin, and documents accurately. Regularly assume responsibility for patient clothing and personal property by logging in and securing items in accordance with established procedures; accurately notes and provides safe care for patient valuables.
* Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes under the guidance of the Charge/Staff Nurse.
* Provides for patient's comfort and activity.

Qualifications
Education:
* High School Diploma or Equivalent required
* Minimum two (2) years of education focused on nursing, psychology, social service, medicine or related field preferred. Completion of EMT, CNA, Medical Assistant, Security Training program or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Experience in a psychiatric setting preferred.
