The Boeing AvionX Hardware Development team is looking for an experienced FPGA Firmware Development Engineer to oversee projects and provide technical leadership for a team of firmware development engineers on multiple avionics computers being developed for platforms such as T-7A, MQ-25, F-15QA, QF-16, and Boeing Commercial.

Position Responsibilities:

* Leads activities to develop, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for Xilinx FPGA based firmware systems.
* Leads development of code and integration of complex firmware components into a fully functional system.
* Develops firmware verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure firmware system requirements are met.
* Provides technical leadership for firmware projects.
* Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics.
* Leads firmware research and development projects.
* Serves as a subject matter expert for firmware domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
* Tracks and evaluates firmware team performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
* Trains and mentors others.
* Works under consultative direction

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Post start secret clearance is required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

* Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
* 5+ years of experience developing firmware for embedded applications (FPGA, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

* Experience with Xilinx, Altera or other FPGA VHDL
* Experience with developing embedded software architectures and C code development, integration, and test
* Experience in technical leadership
* Experience with the generation and execution of internal and external research and development projects

Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
