Job Description

The Wholesale Payments Product Delivery Control Manager (CM) is responsible for managing fundamental and complex business control requirements associated with Credit Product, Marketing and Communications and Revenue Management. The Control Manager continuously evaluates operating risk and business controls to help the Commercial Bank product and marketing organization achieve its mission and strategic objectives. The Business Operations group acts as a central point of contact working closely with Commercial Banking partners (e.g. Compliance, Legal, Risk, the product factories, Operations, Technology) on processes to ensure appropriate product and marketing controls are in place and are consistent when executing deliverables that have Banker, Product and Client impacts.

Control Management focuses on four areas:

1) Control design and expertise

2) Risks and controls identification/assessment

3) Control breaks and resolution

4) Control governance & reporting

Core Functional Responsibilities

Provide control related due diligence to business units to foster a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies and sound change management protocols

Provide on-going assessment of information gathered, to evaluate the strength of the established procedures and controls and work with the appropriate groups to determine control weakness and root cause as a result of risk events reported by each operational group

Develop strong relationships with business partners, leading impact/results discussions, and proactively identifying information needs within the businesses will be essential in this position

In partnership with stakeholders, evaluate and perform an end-to-end analysis of the business risk and control environment to identify significant gaps and weaknesses and determine root cause of control breaks

Ensure that controls are properly designed, operating effectively, and essential to a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies and sound change management protocols

Leverage technology and process improvements to mitigate reliance on manual processes

Present progress and results of control efforts with senior management and other relevant stakeholders

Partner effectively with colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, regulators (as needed) and technology control functions to drive consistent and rigorous operational risk practices and Control programs including: control committees, risk mitigation, key risk indicators, control design and effectiveness evaluation/testing

Help establish/reinforce control governance and reporting to identify meaningful metrics to inform on health of operational risk and control environment; escalate control breaks based on key reporting indicators; and provide input to control committees and forums

Assist with development of Control & Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) mapping and documentations through participation in end-to-end process walkthroughs and deep dives with business units

Assist with ongoing analysis of program related data (e.g., KRI/KPI) and develop ad-hoc reports as requested to support business-related programs and strategies

Assist with action plan validation testing and support Quality Assurance testing and/or CORE testing in support of control objectives, including internal and external audits including compliance related exams (as needed)

Qualifications and Typical Experience:

Bachelor Degree or relevant work experience preferred, MBA a plus

10 plus years of Commercial/Corporate Banking experience desired

Prior experience in Business Management/ Project Management preferred

Desired experience working with key cross-functional groups in a complex line of business, implementing complex and new procedures, processes and systems
