Job Description

Position Summary

The Manager of Fuel will lead a team responsible for physical fuel management, procurement and hedging. Responsibilities include managing a team of analysts to support 24x7 supply, negotiation, execution and contract management, represent the company on consortiums while optimizing the fuel logistics and procurement model to create value for the company and executing JetBlue’s fuel and interest rate hedging program through a portfolio approach to reduce volatility and exposure.

Essential Responsibilities

Manage and ensure 24x7 physical supply while collectively working and communicating with the company’s operations team
Manage and execute fuel hedging program within the guidelines of the corporate policy
Negotiate, execute and manage supply and into-plane contracts
Represent and actively participate on behalf of the company at fuel consortia and committee meetings as well as industry conferences
Responsible for usage forecasting, inventory management and tankering strategy
Oversee the administration of the fuel management system to ensure successful reconciliation
Explore, analyze and execute supply, facility and logistical cost savings opportunities
Build and maintain internal and external relationships at various levels of an organization in order to drive successful results
Ensure internal audit, contract service level agreement, covenant and Dodd Frank compliance
Deliver daily, monthly and quarterly reporting to various levels of management including the Board of Directors and Executive team
Perform technical and fundamental analysis and reporting on macro and micro global trends/events impacting jet fuel prices, supply and hedging strategies
Build, monitor and report on the company wide fuel budget and forecast
Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement   
Manage ad-hoc project requests and other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous related work experience
Five (5) years of Aviation, Fuel, or Finance related experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
Strong analytical and presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication including interactions with executive leadership
Available for overnight travel (10%)
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

MBA or related post-secondary education
Three (3) years of experience in a leadership/management role
Working knowledge of fuel transportation & logistics
Extensive knowledge of market trends, key players in the market and regulatory issues
Knowledge of risk management tools and energy derivatives
Proven negotiation skills
Experience with Bloomberg and Fuel Management System (i.e. Fuel Plus)

Regular attendance and punctuality
Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

Compensation:

The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
