Program Overview

Gateway Family is an innovative talent pathway for family members of JetBlue Crewmembers who are seeking to become pilots at JetBlue. This Gateway will allow a successful applicant to earn all certificates/ratings and gain valuable experience as a pilot at an approved airline, and then come to JetBlue as a first officer after meeting all program and FAA requirements. At that time, the successful candidate will go through the same orientation and six-week training program that all first officers complete.

If accepted into Gateway Family, candidates will follow a multi-phase training and time-building sequence over the course of their time in the program.

Gateway Family will have two training/experience-building options for accepted candidates:

Direct Option:

1. Complete Associate Degree and Primary Training at Aviator College in Ft. Pierce, FL

2. Employment with Aviator College as a Flight Instructor

3. Employment at a partner airline or Part 121 regional airline to meet all time requirements

4. New Hire Training as a JetBlue First Officer

Flex Option:

1. Complete flight training and earn certificates/ratings at a training location of the candidate’s choosing

2. Employment at a partner airline or Part 121 regional airline to meet all time requirements

3. New Hire Training as a JetBlue First Officer

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

· Must be a child/stepchild, spouse, sibling or parent of a JetBlue Crewmember

o Sponsoring Crewmember must be in active status, be in good standing and have at least one (1) year of employment at JetBlue at the time of application posting.

· Must complete the job application

· Must attend informational session on the program prior to interview.

· Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

· Must be at least 23 years old when eligible to join JetBlue as a First Officer

· Must be able to obtain and maintain a First-Class Medical Certificate.

· Must successfully complete and pass all elements of selection process

· Must be able to obtain a valid passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States by the end of training

· Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

· Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test prior to hire

· Must be legally eligible to work in the United States

· Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

· Previous work experience in a leadership capacity.

· Participated in community service events or activities.

Crewmember Expectations:

· Regular attendance and punctuality

· Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

· Able to maintain a professional appearance

· When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

· Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun

Equipment:

· Computer and other classroom equipment

· Tablet and other pilot items as required through training or airline employment

Work Environment:

· Normal Classroom Environment

· Airport Environment

· Hangar

· Normal cockpit and ramp exposure per FAA required Pilot duties

· Non-traditional work hours, shifts cover flight training schedule which operates twenty four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.

· Must be available for any schedule.

Physical Effort:

· Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. (Light)
