Position Summary
Working with the Director of Viticulture, this role is responsible for supporting viticulture activities across all CBI and External vineyards. Responbilites include implement, monitor and evaluate viticulture practices including pesticides, fertilizers, crop estimation, data collection, and vine management (pruning, thinning, heading, irrigation, pesticide and fertilizer applications) programs on owned and leased vineyards to provide consistent, high-quality, cost-effective fruit that meets winemaking objectives. Also document internal vineyard trials and university collaborations, assist in managing companywide GIS, and developing Standard Operating Procedures for viticultural tasks.
With the Director of Viticulture provide support to grower relations about viticulture issues in grower vineyards. Assist with development of programs to monitor and evaluate grower viticulture practices relating to yield and quality and sustainability.
Develop strong relationships with universities professors, USDA and farm advisors who focus on vineyards and in addition spend time understanding other crops in the area and the issues involved environmentally, labor, economics, and pests.
Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting in training viticulture technicians for internal vineyards and grower relations
Assist in maintaining companywide GIS.
executing plans to address block and performance issues (i.e. pest disease or soil analysis)
Ensure viticulture records are filed per record keeping programs across internal and external supply.
Support tasks such as harvest maturity sampling, soil testing, fertilizer application, tissue testing, yield estimates, long term block history, etc, across internal and external vineyards.
Coordinate vineyard experiments, gathering data, and designing new ones.
Evaluate and report new irrigation technology and trial outputs
Participate in continuing education programs and research within the wine industry and agricultural industry to enhance expertise
Attend wine industry and other ag events within the region and statewide to have better understanding of issues facing the industry and Constellation Brands.
Building and maintaining a culture of health and safety within the team and ensure that any issues that arise are identified, addressed, and where required, notified to the GM Vineyard Technologies. Ensuring that Health and Safety policies are met and where possible, exceeded
Provide support for the Vineyard Directors and Grower Relation teams to promote and adhere to all tasks and record keeping requirements of Sustainable winegrowing programs, and C.I programs, safety training
Participate in AVF, local farm groups, sustainability organizations, RCD, Pierces Disease, nursery meetings
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. in Viticulture or related field
Viticulture experience 2+ years
Strong verbal/written communication skills in English
Technical Viticulture knowledge
Computer knowledge
Well-developed people skills
Good interpersonal skills – good communication
Time Management and planning skills
Must have valid driver’s license with clean driving record

Primary office environment may be warehouse/distribution setting.
