Job Description

Purpose of the Role

Effectively supervise and direct a team of hourly employees to ensure the radius areas are maintained to Peabody standards and MSHA regulations and manage equipment in a cost-effective manner.

Key Role Accountabilities

•    Promote, support and comply with the safety directives and policies at the site.

•    Make frequent trips to work areas to check work progress and ensure safe work practices and regulatory compliance at all times.
•    Communicate with the Belt Foreman and/or General Mine Coordinator of work progress, job completions and any employee performance issues that may arise.
•    Coordinate, plan and execute any work that is needed on the Slope, Mother Belt, North Mains #1 Dewater, and main sump.
•    Complete shift reports with accurate detail of the work completed, equipment whereabouts & follow items that need addressed
•    Maintain compliance with operational standards and develop new standards as required to move belt systems to the highest level of efficiency. 
•    Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and/or needed.

Role Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

•    Must possess a high school diploma or GED.

•    Must follow company, State, and Federal plans and policies.
•    Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
•    Must be willing to work on any assigned shift and on scheduled weekends.
•    Must communicate with others on shift and on adjacent shifts.

EXPERIENCE

•    Supervisory and/or crew lead experience preferred. Union supervisor experience preferred.

•    Maintenance experience preferred.
•    Experience in Planning & Execution Techniques.
•    Knowledge of SAP and Kronos preferred.
•    Knowledge of conducting safety inspections and completing risk assessments

Physical Requirements

•    Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces.

•    Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles.
•    Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom.
•    Walking ability will be judged according to SCSR emergency evacuation plan required and approved by MSHA.
•    Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA.
•    Must have the ability to bend or stoop for a full work period as a result of mine height.
•    Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders.
•    Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs as well as good hand to eye coordination.
•    Must have the ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and the ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 75 pounds.
•    Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.
