This position is assigned to the Engineering Support and Sustainment Test Equipment Team. The Test Equipment Team is responsible and accountable for defining, proposing, developing, delivering, and supporting high quality, affordable support and test equipment required at the Depot and Intermediate maintenance levels to meet our customer's needs and requirements. This team is responsible for testing and support of aircraft sub-components and systems, including Hydraulics, Flight Controls, Auxiliary Power, Fuel systems, ECS, Landing gear, and other mechanical systems within the aircraft. Candidates will be required to apply their knowledge of engineering principles, aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, and manufacturing operations to define, support and improve system availability with emphasis on affordability.
Successful candidates will be expected to learn quickly and become capable of independent function within the team in short order. Candidates will be expected to have strong oral and written communication skills that will enable them to effectively interact with internal and external customers and suppliers as well as team members from multiple disciplines. Occasional travel may be required, to include international travel to locations such as Saudi Arabia, and Korea.
Position Responsibilities:
Ability to design, specify, & evaluate mechanical ground support equipment & architectures for adherence to company, customer, & regulatory requirements. Ability to translate functional requirements into designs/specifications and ultimately into fielded systems. Ability to read and apply mechanical principles to schematics. Proficiency in oral and written communication is required. Must be highly motivated, self-starting and comfortable dealing with diverse people and disciplines.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
* Bachelors degree or higher in engineering or physics by June 2021
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
* Bachelors degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
* Experience with mechanical ground support experience and logistics systems
* Familiarity with tools such as DOORS, AMESIM and DSI eXpress
* Previous experience in a multi-disciplined team environment, and frequent interaction with suppliers and customers
* Experience with controls is desired.
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:
Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
Travel:
Domestic and international travel approximately 10%
