Position Summary

As the Senior Frontend Developer at The North Face you will play a key critical role elevating the brand’s digital presence creating premium, engaging digital experiences and interfaces for The North Face website.  

 

You will partner with stakeholders cross-functionally to meet ecommerce, brand and marketing objectives. On a typical day, you can expect to plan, scope and build landing pages, collaborate and align goals with creative teams, guide new FE features and experiences for development, help junior developers and/or help fix small bugs. You will also play a vital role in helping to lead the brand content replatform effort in coming year. Articulating and requesting FE requirements as needed.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Front-End Developers by providing technical oversight, code development and direction for Front End Developing including: 

Implementation of digital front-end experiences, working closely with designers to create engaging landing pages and unique user interfaces (such as our Braindead collaboration and Vectiv landing pages) 

Recommend and lead development of novel and engaging single page experiences and user interfaces. 

Deliver cross-browser and -device compatible, performant and responsive code building upon the Digital Platform CMS components using custom layouts using relevant open source libraries and tools.  

Work with designers to build animations and engaging interfaces and elements using native and non-native browser technologies, APIs and libraries. 

Create issue and feature tickets for improvement, platform bugs and conceptualize of components to platform development teams.  

Leverage existing components within the platform, specifically the Adobe Experience Manager CMS, to minimize needs for development updates for digital stakeholders.  

All functions of the position should adhere to existing IT corporate policy. UAT, BAV, QA, bug reporting and fixing. 

Partner with eCommerce and marketing teams to improve content-to-commerce flow, make suggestions and provide prototypes when applicable. 

Explore, leverage utilize modern production-ready libraries and frameworks  

Collaboration with colleagues with varying levels of technical knowledge and skillsets.  

Collaborate with the A/B Testing & Personalization lead(s) on developing and testing innovative ideas and theories. 

Help lead the content transition to a headless, micro-service platform in the coming year. 

Constantly looking to improve and optimize workflow and customer facing experiences. 

Job Requirements

~5 years of related professional experience preferably in a structured, process-driven environment  

At least 4+ years of experience coding HTML, CSS, Javascript and other UI technologies with a portfolio of your work.  

Well versed in modern web development techniques  

Experience creating engaging experiences interactive interfaces leveraging applicable FE libraries and APIs. 

Hands-on experience in developing exacting near pixel-perfect experiences from designer comps. 

Experience with Vue.js and RESTful APIs. 

Great interpersonal skills- experience working with, mentoring and collaborating with junior developers. 

A keen understanding of web site performance. 

Experience and knowledge FE frameworks?and Libraries 

Experience with interactive web development?& responsive web design? 

Experience and working knowledge of secure development practices.? 

Experience in personal development including mentoring and coaching developers  

Must be responsive, detail oriented and have a strong sense of appropriate planning for meeting deadlines. 

Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills are required; ability to apply systems knowledge to troubleshoot and analyze new issues is critical. 

Proficient experience with Git and basic Gitflow 
 

Preferred:

Experience agile development methodology. 

Familiarity with various PaaS options 

Familiarity with Foundation framework 

Experience with creating RESTFUL APIs. 

Experience with Adobe AEM and/or CoreMedia 

Experience integrating third-party applications such as onsite search, tag managers, post-purchase rate and reviews, fit finders, and store locators 
 

Skills:?? 

Excellent communication skills both written and oral? 

Modern FE Development practices(markup, js, css(preprocessors), desire to learn and keep in front of the technology curve 

Reporting to stakeholders or large groups of professionals is a must.?? 

Previous retail eCommerce/B2C/DTC experience preferred
