Job Summary:
The Global Business Services (GBS) Project Manager reports directly to the Sr. Manager, PMO, Process Optimization and Automation. As a member of the GBS Project Management Office (PMO), this role provides the GBS Process Leadership Team, GBS Workstreams, and GBS customers with cross-functional, cross-process, project management services to achieve the GBS strategic vision, supporting projects of varying size and complexity across the GBS project portfolio. The GBS Project Manager will work across all process areas and will support the GBS business functions by:
Providing project management and oversight for all GBS initiatives (Intake, Automation, Optimization, Sourcing, etc.) to enable business transformation and drive global process optimization
Providing project updates and metrics related to project status, budget, and resources.
In accomplishing the above services, the GBS Project Manager will be required to learn and understand the GBS strategy and vision. The Project Manager will provide day-to-day direction and leadership to project teams of internal GBS staff, external consulting partners, and business unit representatives including the allocation of human and capital resources across various complex projects to ensure completion of project/program goals within budget.
The GBS Project Manager will be required to work collaboratively with many internal customers, staff, and management within Global Business Services.
Role Responsibilities:
Project Management
Lead and provide project management support for all GBS related projects in support of the GBS strategic vision. Using industry standard project management practices, drive projects to a successful conclusion, delivering on time and within budget.
Project Management – Lead project execution throughout the entire project lifecycle, from business case development, planning, and requirements gathering, through successful project closure.
Project Portfolio Management – In collaboration with GBS Leadership, business partners, and stakeholders, prioritizes and manages all projects within the GBS project portfolio (intake, optimization, automation, sourcing) in accordance with the GBS strategic vision.
Industry Expertise – Maintains extensive knowledge and expertise in project management principles and techniques, industry best practices, and technologies used in ways of working.
Project Communication & Metrics
Through collaboration with each project team, provides regular project updates to GBS Leadership and stakeholders:
Provide regular, clear, concise project updates including status, risk identification and remediation plans, budget tracking, and resource capacity/constraints to GBS Leadership (VP, Directors), Steering Committees, and relevant stakeholders.
Drive communication and collaboration with GBS project team members, as well as cross-functional internal and external business partners to ensure successful and on-time project delivery.
Support the collaborative review of monthly performance measurement output to GBS Leadership (VP and Directors) and/or project leadership.
Build Relationships
Through collaboration with each project team, Process Optimization, Process Automation and the GBS Project Management Office (PMO), identify continuous improvement opportunities related to each project:
Proven ability to establish collaborative relationships with Senior Leaders and key business stakeholders across The Hershey Company.
Build relationships with key stakeholders affected by the GBS project portfolio, as well as the GBS Leadership who support these business partners.
Embody Hershey Leadership behaviors, communicating clear and consistent messages, relying on data and facts to advocate a position or overcome objections.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or Engineering required.
Experience:
5-7 years of project management experience.
Minimum 5 years proven experience in successfully delivering high quality solutions in high pressure, structured environments using standard project management techniques and disciplines.
Project Management methodologies: Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile, Scrum preferred.
Shared Services/global business services with transitioning scope from business into a shared service center preferred.
Continuous Improvement methodologies: Six Sigma, Lean, Value Stream Mapping, Design Thinking a plus.
Proven experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects/areas of responsibility simultaneously.
Ability to liaise with the senior level external supplier and internal stakeholder representatives in a rational and measured manner to communicate progress, issues, risks and solutions.
Experience in managing and motivating a cross discipline team.
High-energy, self-starter, able to be a team builder and change agent.
