Job Description

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. This position does require an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week.

For all external applicants, we are targeting a start date on or after January 10th 2022 for this position.

Software Test Engineer ensures applications meet GM IT standards for functional, system, quality, security, performance and architecture requirements. Ability to drive intermediate level of test planning, execution and quality reporting of software applications through project engagements and sustaining software test activities. This includes the creation of manual and automated test cases and test execution plans. Organizes and executes test activities to ensure applications meet GM IT standards for quality, security, performance and architecture requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Hands-on coding experience with Java, C# or other object-oriented programming languages
Work towards improving test automation frameworks and maintain scalable data sets for testing
Evaluate current test procedures/process and drive optimization
Utilize monitoring and reporting tools like AzDO and drive optimization
Develop and contribute to long term technical solutions and strategies of the QA organization
Identify quality weaknesses, suggest solutions and drive/initiate change
Build and cultivate relationships with development and business facing teams
Expertise in testing across various languages and architectures
Interact and collaborate with many teams cross-functionally
Support the delivery of code and features in the shortest period of time without sacrificing quality
Mentor and develop technical talent from new college hires to senior QA engineers

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science or relative experience
3+ years of experience as development or test lead
Solid understanding of test methodologies and process implementation experience
Experience with driving a test automation strategy
Advanced experience of test automation development, CI/CD tools, practices and methodologies
Innovative and strategic thinker with initiative to act and build positive change
Must demonstrate outstanding communication and leadership skills
