Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

The Environmental Service Worker maintains assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, orderly and attractive condition providing a suitable environment for the care of patients and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures and in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Fairmount Behavioral Health System.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

1. Ensures a safe and clean environment by utilizing established procedures
2. Cleans assigned units and buildings according to daily schedule
3. Collects trash and empties trash receptacles using safety and infection control procedures.
4. Vacuums all carpeting of assigned areas.
5. Mops floors including patient care rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, public area and other tiled areas.
6. Cleans patient rooms and ensures discharged patient rooms are cleaned in a timely fashion for next occupant.
7. Delivers linen carts to units. Folds towels and linens.
8. Maintains stock and cleanliness of linen closet.
9. Cleans medication room using safety and infection control practices.
10. Cleans kitchen area and assigned refrigerators on assigned unit.
11. Lifts/moves furniture and other items to thoroughly perform cleaning duties.
12. Uses approved chemicals, cleaning solution, supplies and equipment when cleaning assigned areas.
13. Properly disposes all soiled linens, waste and other hazardous materials.
14. Ensures personal safety through effectively reporting aggressive/concerning patient behaviors to the unit nurse or staff.
15. Completes other duties as assigned by Environmental Services Supervisor.
16. Adheres to the mission and values set forth by Fairmount Behavioral Health.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position.

Education: Prefer high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Prefer prior housekeeping experience in a hospital, health care or hospitality setting.

Licensure/Certification: None

Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of equipment usage including vacuum cleaner, buffer, pressure washer, cleaning products, safety, and infection control policies.
