As Employment Counsel for NetApps Americas and India regions, you will help NetApp attract, pay and retain the best talent in the world. You will serve as a key partner and liaison between NetApps Human Resources and its leaders, managers and employees. You will also guide NetApp HR and employees on how to manage and protect employee data while complying with the laws of many jurisdictions, including the European Unions General Data Protection Regulation. To be successful you must be extremely organized, detail oriented and customer focused; have strong written and verbal communication skills; be successful at building relationships across functions; and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic high technology environment.

Essential Functions
* Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Worldwide Employment and Compliance, serve as employment counsel for NetApp in its Americas region (US, Canada and Latin America) and India, advising the NetApp Human Resources team, managers and other stakeholders on the laws and regulations affecting employees and contractors in the United States and around the world.
* Cultivate a deep partnership and build strong relationships with the NetApp Human Resources team, other stakeholders, and senior leadership globally for purposes of providing both strategic advice and daily guidance.
* Innovate and drive strategic improvements in how NetApp meets its goal of attracting and retaining world-class talent.
* Manage and defend NetApp in employment- and compliance-related litigation, claims, investigations, and subpoenas.
* Monitor, assess, and report on NetApps global compliance with employment-related laws and regulations.
* Monitor and provide guidance on laws and regulations relating to the use of employee data around the world, including the EUs GDPR and data privacy laws in the Americas and India.
* Establish and manage global relationships with and coordinate legal matters handled by outside counsel and other vendors to agreed-upon budget. Innovate and drive world class employee training programs.
Job Requirements
* Demonstrated experience providing outstanding legal support to a human resources organization on a wide range of employment-related topics.
* Subject matter expertise with respect to a wide range of employment-related regulations and trends.
* Proven high level of integrity, professionalism, and trust, including in dealing with complex and sensitive matters.
* Strong leadership skills, including the ability to establish and execute on clear goals, objectives, and priorities consistent with the organizations vision.
* Proven judgment, ability to think strategically and creatively, and ability to anticipate and solve complex problems.
* Demonstrated ability presenting simple, practical, and actionable information and advice to clients.
* Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with, and leading and motivating, other employees in team and matrixed environments to meet aggressive goals and pre-defined timelines.
* Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed deadlines, prioritize, multi-task, provide expedient responses to inquiries and issues, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, changing environment.
* Ability to work at times of day necessary to support global portfolio and address events and issues happening throughout the world.
* Limited domestic and global travel.
* Solid Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook.
* Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
* Ability to follow established procedures and processes established by the Legal department and governmental guidelines.
* A Get Things Done mindset and ability to find practical solutions to complex problems.
Education
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in employment law is required, with 6-8 years preferred.
* Admission to the California Bar is required.
* In-house experience at a multinational company preferred.
* Experience advising employers on employment laws and regulations in countries outside the US, especially in India, Latin America and Canada, preferred.
