Work Hours/Shift: Full Time Nights 8:30 PM to 7 AM (shift differential added to pay)
You Will Be Responsible For:

* Performs tasks as required to meet departmental needs to include: patient transport, patient positioning, courier for specimens, supplies and medication, participation in OR room turnovers, preparation of case supplies and equipment and scrubbing in for procedures to act in the role of camera, retractor or limb holder.
* Assists with equipment management. May have specific training related to lasers, video, stealth, robotic, or other equipment utilized in the department. Demonstrates knowledge of equipment set up, troubleshooting and cleaning. Reports any problems with equipment to department Manager.
* Participates in the preparation of the patient for procedures as directed by the RN. Cooperates as part of the multidisciplinary team by communicating pertinent patient information to the RN and completing assignments. May remove medications from the pneumatic tube system for immediate delivery to the RN or for securing purposes in the medication room.
* Demonstrates knowledge of supplies utilized for procedures. Ensures supplies are available for procedures as indicated, returns unused supplies to correct locations. Assists with maintenance of par levels and inventory.

Required:
* Medical Terminology course OR completed coursework in a Surgical Tech Training Program
* CPR
* Ability to clearly and effectively communicate written and verbal Information
* Ability to comprehend instructions and processes to carry out job requirements
Preferred:
* Previous experience in surgical services
* Experience working with patients in an acute care setting.
* High School Diploma or GED
* For advanced ancillary support roles completion of specialty training is preferred.
* Enrollment in a Surgical Tech training program.
* Under the direct supervision of a surgical tech or RN preceptor (scrubbed in at the sterile field)
Job Summary:
The Surgical Assistant III (SAIII) assists in performing duties and activities for surgical patients of all age groups. This includes the following duties: patient transport, patient positioning, courier for specimens, supplies and medication, participation in OR room turnovers, preparation of case supplies and equipment and scrubbing in for procedures to act in the role of camera, retractor or limb holder. The SA III maintains competency in additional advanced ancillary role specific related duties which may include, but are not limited to, supply management, case preparation, and equipment set up and troubleshooting. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
