Job Summary
Dominion Energy's Power Generation Business Unit seeks a Network Specialist to support the Generation fleet (non-nuclear) with network devices, network architecture, and network security which are part of the Industrial Control System environments (ICS) and ICS cyber security environments. The successful candidate will be able to provide the support noted below in accordance with standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements, for the Generation fleet and its auxiliaries:
1. Oversight of ICS managed network device configurations (for example switches, firewalls, routers) and architectures in a high availability environment and support ICS project implementations/modifications.
2. Manage, configure, install and support network devices and services for general ICS and ICS cyber security networks.
3. Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations. Support management of passwords and access methodologies.
4. Monitor regulatory requirements, industry trends, and potential impacts to Power Generation operating systems networks and produce risk communications.
5. Monitor system performance, connectivity, and resource utilization.
6. Provide strategic planning for ICS and ICS cyber security networks.
7. Implement, lead, and manage network hardware installation and modification projects.
8. Support Cyber Security Project team with implementations and Cyber Security System support.
9. Troubleshoot network Switches, Routers, Intrusion Prevention Systems, and Intrusion Detection Systems, in a fast-paced production environment. Serve as escalation point Subject Matter Expert (SME) for networking issues.
10. Follow change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
11. Provide subject matter expertise in networking technologies. Act as a mentor to other staff members to broaden network knowledge and technical expertise across the team.
12. Serve as corporate liaison with the plant personnel to assure compliance with Power Generation Engineering and corporate policies, and procedures.
13. Architect network designs for ICS projects at plants and implement these designs as needed.
14. Provide network engineering expert resources in the disciplines of core routing, core switching, network security, network diagnostics, and load balancing.
15. Lead and/or support efforts to resolve data network problems and incidents through root cause analysis and study of potential network deficits.
16. Develop and manage inventory of network device information and configurations for all Power Generation network devices.
17. Address ICS-CERT identified vulnerabilities and resolve in coordination with Power Generation Regulatory Compliance (PGRC) and the plant cyber security personnel.
18. Coordinate with Power Generation and Corporate Cyber Security, Compliance, and IT for enterprise firewall rule change requests as needed.
19. Perform firewall rule reviews and investigation.
20. Serve as a cyber security team member and uphold responsibilities in support of the fleet and related cyber security project implementations.
21. Participate as needed in cyber security event follow-ups in coordination with IT Incident Response Team and the Power Generation cyber security personnel.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
1) Seven years of experience in network design, management/programming and deployment, firewall configurations, network switch configurations, and network security.
2) Strong networking foundations and experience in the design of network design architecture, topologies, and security.
3) Experience with varied types of Firewalls, Routers and Network Switches.
4) Experience working in high availability network environments.
5) Experienced in assessing and resolving complex data network problems and incidents.
Other requirements:
1) Strong level of understanding of IT/OT security principles, technologies and best practices
2) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment to identify errors, pinpoint root causes, and devise solutions with minimal oversight.
3) Ability to coordinate multi-project assignments and manage deadlines.
4) Microsoft/Cisco device and system administration experience.
5) Strong leadership and interpersonal skills;
6) Strong verbal and written communication skills;
7) Network Certifications.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with Industrial Control Systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA) and third-party datalink protocols (Modbus, DNP, ABPLC).
Cisco certifications.
Knowledge, skills and experience will determine salary level.
