Job Description

Your goal is to maximize the trustworthiness and usage of data across the business(s) by identifying trusted sources, describing, explaining and making it easier to share, integrate, retrieve, consume, manage, and utilize data and perform and maintain data lineage.

This role is responsible for performing meta data and data lineage activities using standard tools and templates and supporting as-needed data related areas of data quality, issue management and remediation efforts.

You will partner with Data Stewards, Business Process Owners, Data Quality, Data Providers and Data Custodians and other key data-related roles including Technology.

Main responsibilities

* Execute / Deliver on meta data and data lineage activities such as trusted sources, data definitions, data rules / business logic, data categorization (Personally Identifiable Information (PII), etc.), data quality rules, processes and systems that use or create the data, etc.
* Support project planning, prioritizing requirements and activities, seeking diverse points of view for optimal solutions, understanding, resolving or escalating issues and concerns and influencing team members to deliver on time and within budget.
* Capture metadata for Critical Data Elements (CDE) within the business process and ensure that it is stored in accordance to the Chief Data Office (CDO)s Metadata Management Process.
* Map Critical Data Elements (CDE) to appropriate processes, Data Domains, Data Concepts, and Data Sources and maintain accurate business process maps in line with Citis taxonomy.
* In partnership with the business, define and capture meta data so that it can be easily and effectively used by Data Scientists, Reporting Teams and project teams working on digitization and automation of risks and controls.
* Ensure robust documentation of meta data and data lineage for CDEs.
* Collaborate with the Data Governance Office, CDO, Consumer Business Operations and Risk Controls (CBORC) and Technology to identify, recommend and/or implement processes and technologies that enhance or support processes related to meta data management and data lineage.
* Communicate data decisions and ensure business users understand impacts of such decisions to their lines of business.
* Continuously identifies or supports opportunities to streamline and simplify the execution of the Citi Data Management Policy.
* Subject Matter Expert on Citi Data Management Policy (CDMP) and Meta Data Management and knowledgeable with Data Quality, Issue Management & Resolution (IMR), End User Computing (EUC), and other data-related Citi policies and standards.

Education & Qualifications

* A Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Masters degree is preferred, but not required.
* At least 5-10 years of combined experience in banking and financial services industry and data governance.
* Experience includes active role / participation in one or more data related initiatives such as meta data management, data lineage capture, data trace, data quality (DQ), aligning business processes with data, metrics and reporting, data-related issue management and remediation efforts, process ~ data mapping, developing or supporting standards / policies.
* Experience with data management processes and tools and applications, including process mapping and lineage toolsets (e.g. Collibra).
* Working knowledge of structured/unstructured databases, data modeling, SQL and Agile methodology.

* Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to recognize and comprehend complex data governance issues, policies, regulatory requirements and industry information affecting the business environment.
* Willingness to pitch-in with other team members. Entrepreneurial spirit to identify problems or challenges and solve them.
* Regularly provided timely status updates to management and stakeholders.
