POSITION SUMMARY
*BLS Required
This position evaluates psychiatric patients in the Emergency Department and makes recommendations to the Emergency Department Physician as to the disposition of those patients. Consults with attending psychiatrists as needed. This position also evaluates patients throughout the organization, as requested or urgently, who are in need of mental health assessments. This position also evaluates referrals from outlying facilities communicated via electronic transmission for potential admission to the program. This position facilitates or recommends appropriate referrals or preventative services treatment and support for populations with alcohol, drugs and/or substance abuse.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
* Master's degree (MA, MS, MSW) or Doctorate in Psychology or Social Work
* One to two years' experience in the assessment of patients with emotional and chemical dependency disorders required
* Must have the ability to identify and address the special needs of all patients in pertinent areas including:
* Adult - 18 - 64
* Geriatrics - 65 and above
