As a member of the Learning team, you will help plan and organize the learning needs of all technicians that support our physical stores (including but not limited to: Amazon Go, Amazon Books, and Amazon 4-star).
Amazon Physical Stores is growing, and technicians supporting our stores need to be trained and ready for any break fix in a store. In this dynamic and challenging role, you will be the liaison with our field services and tech launch teams to set up training for new technicians. Before and during our virtual training classes you will provide technical support and troubleshooting for class participants, and be production assistant during live sessions. You will also set up Adobe Connect virtual classrooms, manage enrollments and completion tracking in our Learning Management System, and send reports on any issues, wins, and misses.
The role
In this role, you will directly define and influence the quality of our content to support a worldwide audience. You will own, develop, and enforce our localization strategy and style guides working directly with Tech KMs technical writers, instructional designers, and trainers.
As the Editor you will own the development of standardized technical and grammatical style guides. These guides require leading a team or committee to review writing and editorial policies and guidelines, resolve style and editorial differences, and make recommendations.
As the Localization Program Manager you will support the successful adoption, execution and deployment of localization projects by working with development and operations teams around the world. You will manage the day-to-day localization and linguistic review requests, and work closely with development teams to provide internationalization and localization tools support. You will also work with our localization vendor to ensure all localization and review work is performed timely while conforming to our high standards.
The role requires an individual who can innovate, move quickly, and not be constrained by how things have been done before. The role also requires deep collaboration with content developers, subject matter experts, technical program managers, and senior-level leaders across multiple disciplines/functional roles. Key Responsibilities
Works with technical writers to revise products for narrative organization, and negotiates further revisions as needed.
Support technical writers with content review and approval process.
Review technical manuals and training content for proper grammar, punctuation, syntax, logic, clarity, style guide adherence, and consistency.
Ensures that style and format conform to style guide standards.
Experience in working with translation management; drive continuous improvement of these tools and systems; and document their usage for users.
Manage our linguistic resources: translation memories, term databases, machine translation engines and filters.
Communicate effectively with a variety of partners and stakeholders.
Manage multiple projects by setting the appropriate priorities with localization management.
Evangelize internationalization and localization best practices.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of professional working experience in localization
2+ years in a technical writing or developmental editing role
Bachelors degree in project management, linguistics, technical writing or equivalent work experience.
Deliver high-quality content that is approved, accurate, complete, usable, discoverable, and conforming to the style guide.
Demonstrate strong communication skills, written and verbal.
Experience troubleshooting workflows that include linguistic quality assurance reviews and machine translation post-editing tasks
Proven project management experience
Strong track record in implementing smart and efficient solutions
Professional working experience with the above two skills should be 3-5 years in total
Experience in the field of translation or editing, and experience with HTML, XML-based content management system, CMS, Trados Studio or other CAT tools, and terminology management
Self-starter with ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
Personal initiative, flexibility, intellectual curiosity, and ability to work across functions
Ability to conceptualize, scope and execute projects, with strong bias for action and ability to priorities and meet deadlines
Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders at different levels
Demonstrate strong communication skills, written and verbal
Operate in new domains with little direction, be a self-starter, and handle ambiguity.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business, English, Communications or another technical communications-related field.
5+ year of professional working experience in localization program management
Experience with bi-directional design and localization a huge plus
Clear understanding of how languages can be affected by technologies and systems that involve multiple working parts
Technical knowledge of translation management and content management systems
Analyze, create, and test data driven scalable solutions to impact daily workflow processes
Help to articulate and drive forward cutting-edge innovations in our localization software platform
Experience managing and developing web content using markdown, HTML, or CMS tools (SharePoint, MadCap Flare)
Seek customer feedback to identify ways to improve the customer experience
Working knowledge of a second language desirable
Ability to manage own work with minimal oversight in a fast-paced, frugal environment with multiple stakeholders and changing priorities.
