Department Summary
The analytics team is part of Operations Performance and supports Electric and Gas Distribution Operations, Generation, Engineering, & Transmission. We provide operational reporting, analysis, insight and problem solving to assist the functional areas in achieving continuous performance improvement. The team focuses on ensuring the highest degree of data integrity and accuracy possible. Team members work with various departments throughout the company to drive data driven actions.
Job Description/Responsibilities
The primary focus of this position will be on applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems integrated into our business processes. Additional responsibilities may also include: Visualization tool development and visual analysis. The candidate must have proven strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with all levels of management and be able to work independently. Strong communication, analytical, diagnostic, facilitation and PC skills are essential. Experience in the following applications is required: Tableau, MS Excel, MS Access, SAP and Business Intelligence (IMR). The successful candidate must be willing to learn new reporting software, as well as, create and validate data for reports in production. In addition to aiding key decision making, the data produced in this role is used in all manners of financial planning, rate cases, and reporting to regulators. Must be flexible, have demonstrated strong administrative skills and be able to set priorities in a changing environment.
Basic responsibilities will include:
* Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques
* Data mining using state-of-the-art methods
* Extending companys data with third party sources of information when needed
* Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems
* Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
* Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner
* Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance
* Design, test and produce performance reporting for key performance indicators such as: productivity, quality, safety, MPSC compliance, scheduling/dispatching, returned work, repeat calls, order creation accuracy, order completion accuracy, time reporting and work plans. This is not an all-inclusive list but provides examples of the types of performance reviews that are expected.
* Plan, organize, and assist in decision-making efforts
Requirements/Qualifications
* Bachelors degree Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Operations Research. (Will consider relevant work experience in lieu of an advanced degree.)
* 3 or more years experience in data science, statistical analysis and modelling data using leading Artificial Intelligence and big data tools (e.g. TensorFlow, R, Python, Hadoop, Spark, RapidMiner, Tableau, etc.)
Preferred Requirements/Qualifications
* Masters Degree in Data Science, Computer Science or related field
* PHD in the applicable field of study
* Knowledge of tools and techniques in machine learning
* Expert in relational database design and concepts
* Experience in one or more programming languages (C/C++, Python, Perl, Java)
* Experience in genetic algorithms, logistic and linear regression, PCA, decision tree analysis and statistical methods

Business Support Advisors and Consultants support the planning, business analysis, general management, budget preparations and analysis, negotiations, transactions, customer services and auditing of a wide variety of business functions and processes of specific operating and support areas throughout the Company. Duties and who this individual reports to will fluctuate between projects, departments and offices. Lead and/or assist with business analysis and support for the plans, reports, impacts, contracts, schedules, estimates, data collection, observations, and field investigations.
Provide business analysis and support services with accuracy, on time and under budget. Use computer assisted applications software and equipment to prepare business analysis support documents. Understand and follow Company established standard procedures for file structure and standard procedures for projects. Become familiar with business and department and Company plans and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately. Assists in client contact and communications. Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public. Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders. Attend internal and external meetings. Provide business analysis and support services in a legal and ethical manner.
Hours and Travel:
This position requires the individual work at least hours per week with 80% of time spent in office. Office location is negotiable. This position may require the ability to travel between field locations. This position may include nights and weekend/holiday timeframes.
