As a safety attendant in our department, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of important patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily listing. Under supervision of the RN, you will assist the nursing staff in providing patient care with your skills and training and in accordance with the needs of our department. The Patient Care Technician will consistently assist the patient care team by maintaining a clean, well-organized and safe patient care environment.

Under the supervision of the nursing staff, our Patient Sitter provides personal care services and continuous observation of patients in need of constant supervision. This role as Patient Sitter is integral in maintaining the safest care setting for our patients.

What you will do in this role:

* You will stay with the patient at all times during assigned duty being relieved for breaks and meals.
* You will prepare meal trays; clear bedside table, remove cover from food, open containers.
* You will reorient the patient as appropriate; time, place, person.
* You will straighten bed, change bed linens when patient is out of bed. Straighten up patients room and care for flowers.
* You will provide the patient fluids and ice, as permitted.
* You will accompany patient off the unit as needed.
* You will read and converse with the patient.

Qualifications

What qualifications you may need:

* High school diploma or equivalent is required.
* Preferred year of experience in healthcare.

Patients are cared for in two dedicated trauma bays in our Emergency Department.
