Position Responsibilities/Job Description

This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual to contribute to the digital initiatives and data visualization projects within a growing Data Analytics Team supporting R&D. This position is primarily accountable for the development of visualization and reporting solutions to support functional areas of R&D.

The successful candidate will be well-versed in data analytics and visualization solutions, be well organized, capable of managing multiple project assignments and communicate effectively in written and verbal formats, ability to convey complex and technical issues to diverse audiences. Strong communication, creativity, and a proven ability to collaborate are key additional success factors for this role as this individual will manage relationships with stakeholders and become a subject matter expert (over time) in support of new and existing analytics providing accurate views of data along with insight in how it can be understood and used to improve experimental designs and formulation. Specific duties and accountabilities include:

* Capturing requirements for the design and creation of visualizations/dashboards using Tableau. Translate new and existing reporting requirements into actionable requirements for delivery via business intelligence applications and tools; recommend to other business areas if applicable across multiple groups and environments.
* Identify data sources, perform data analysis, data querying and data validation functions.
* Create methods to extract data sets to create innovative visualizations to develop relationships between formulation characteristics and coatings properties
* Create prototype reporting, dashboards and modeling to review with business users, using an iterative process to achieve successful report delivery
* Create and deliver user training for data visualization tools. Lead training initiatives related to the interpretation of data from analysis protocols. Promote data visualization benefits to the organization. Assist the business in understanding data visualization tools to allow them to better access the data independently.
* Assist in the establishment of data visualization methodology, processes and standards for the Tableau environment.
* Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for data analytics and visualization development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
* Support and administration of Tableau security
* Assist the business in understanding the reporting tools to allow them to better access the data independently.
* Coordinate with Enterprise database and system administrators regarding the design/implementation and business practice approaches to R&D data needs; promote the development and execution of data policies, business practices and procedures that properly manage the full data life cycle needs of institutional data; identify data quality issues and works with appropriate staff to resolve issues and processes as needed.
* Seek out and apply new technologies and skills for BI improvement in daily work through conferences, online training, reading, participation in organizations and user groups, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

- Must be at least 18 years of age

- Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment

- Bachelor of Science degree in related field or equivalent experience

- Minimum 5+ years Business Intelligence Development

- Minimum 3+ years of creating hands on dashboards or analytics with Tableau or similar tool highly preferred

- Experience working directly with business analysts or business sponsors to gather and validate functional requirements and provide the design specifications.

Other Qualifications:

- B.S. in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field required

- Strong Data Organization and Analytical skills

- Strong data visualization development skills

- Strong knowledge and experience with data analytics packages
