Job Summary
This opportunity is open to current PSEG employees only.
This position involves working as a member of the Distribution Technical Support Team in providing direct support to Gas Operations in construction, operation and maintenance activities. Utilizing PSEG behavioral standards, sound management practice and skills, direct operations personnel in accomplishing the desired results. Ensure the quality and quantity of work performed is in compliance with Company standards and procedures, safe work practices and government regulations. Maximize system reliability by ensuring timely and effective planning and scheduling. Demonstrate a total commitment to teamwork in achieving desired results for Gas Transmission and Distribution Engineering. Develop bargaining unit personnel group skills to effectively meet goals and performance objectives. Provide direct input and support for the performance appraisal of bargaining unit associates. Ensure Gas Operations on call coverage and accept call out obligations.
Job Responsibilities
* Partner with layout groups and Gas Operations personnel to plan, schedule and complete primary and secondary gas flow control operations.
* Expand knowledge of PSE&G Gas Operations through training initiatives and on-the-job training
* Oversee special projects involving technical, field personnel, manufacturers and consultants.
* Provide technical assistance in implementing special programs and new processes.
* Provide technical support and problem resolution during system activities and in equipment/material failure analysis.
* Ensure Company and regulatory compliance in the inspection of materials and equipment utilized by Gas Operations.
Job Specific Qualifications
* High School graduate or GED.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction/operation/maintenance of gas distribution facilities.
* Knowledge of Company/Union Agreement.
* Experience working with DWMS.
* Working knowledge of the Gas Distribution Standards Manual (GDS).
* Must obtain an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor's Test (FLST) unless presently and directly supervising (i.e. responsible for performance review) blue collar, operating department/represented associates for a minimum of 12 continuous months. For those who have previously taken and received an acceptable score on the FLST but who are not presently and directly supervising represented associates, test results will be valid for a maximum period of two years from the date the test was taken.
* Must possess and maintain a U. S. valid driver's license and safe driving record.
* Must currently have or obtain a Commercial Drivers License within 12 months of employment in this role
* Safety sensitive position. D.O.T. testing required.

Desired:
* Experience and familiarity with all aspects of gas facility construction and repair and various material types (plastic, steel and cast iron).
* Experience in material joining (heat fusion of plastic, welding of steel, mechanical joining of various material types).
* Experience in performing purging (gas-in, gas-out) procedures on gas facilities of various sizes and material types.
* Experience with pressure regulation equipment and relief systems.
* Experience with line tapping and line stopping equipment and materials.

The Public Service Corporation was formed in 1903, by amalgamating more than 400 gas, electric and transportation companies in New Jersey. Thomas McCarter was named the Corporation's first president and held the position until 1939.
Internally, Public Service consolidated its gas and electric interests into Public Service Electric and Gas, and its transportation interests into Public Service Coordinated Transport (later Transport of New Jersey). Concerns about the concentration of economic power resulted in federal and state actions requiring the breakup of utilities. In 1943, Public Service once again became a stand-alone company, and was renamed Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) in 1948
PSEG as 100 People
PSEG has 13,000 employees across multiple states representing varied backgrounds and expertise. But could you conceptualize what a snapshot of PSEG would look like as just 100 people? That’s just what the PSEG Foundation set out to do when it partnered with the 100 People Foundation.
Using the 100 People Foundation philosophy and methodology, we set out to meet the 100 people who could best represent our company. The result was a diverse group of employees who helped create a community that represents PSEG by job type and companywide statistics. Employees from varied positions, levels and tenure were nominated by their peers as the people they most admire.
Some of the employees chosen to help represent PSEG as 100 people served in the military, where they learned about great teamwork, or are the third generation of their family to work for PSEG. More than one nominee was the first member of their family to attend college.
