Become a Power Systems Technical Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, youll be responsible for ensuring safe, reliable and affordable delivery of power to SCEs customers by providing technical support to external and internal clients throughout SCEs service territory including Distribution, Transmission and Substation Operations. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

* Perform in-depth investigations to determine the cause of equipment malfunctions and identify mitigation solutions.
* Responsible for connecting power quality analyzers to electrical equipment energized at <600v using appropriate personal protective equipment.
* Analyzing data from multiple systems: PQMs, DFRs, SCADA, OMS, and DMS.
* Utilizing all available tools and software to troubleshoot and resolve electrical events and accurately explaining in non-technical terms technical events to customers.
* Drafting client reports covering complex recommendations.
* Providing technical subject matter expertise to other departments at SCE, as well as the legal department.
* Attending industry conferences representing SCE and its customers.
* Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following SCE safety protocols and safe work practices.
* Engage in continuous learning Provide training to internal and external audiences.
* Assist in the preparation of brochures, handbooks, and articles for publication.
* Serve as subject matter experts.
* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
The essentials

* Seven years working in a utility, industrial or commercial environment designing, installing or analyzing, and/or troubleshooting electrical power or control systems.
* Valid U.S. Drivers License.

The preferred

* Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
* Formal electrical training through an IBEW or ABC Apprenticeship, Trade School, or Community College.
* Certified Power Quality Professional (AEE certification).
* Experience with power quality analyzers and programming.
* Experience with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
* Five years of experience as an electrician/maintenance or utility electrician with experience building wiring, blueprint reading, troubleshooting and installation of wiring systems and equipment.
* Self-starter with the ability to continuously add to their skill and knowledge.

* This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. * Relocation does not apply to this position.
* Up to 40% traveling will be required.
