Job Responsibilities

Position supports the Bay Area Lam sites and reports to the Fremont EHS Manager. As the Environmental Engineer, you are responsible for the compliance and continual improvement of environmental programs for Bay Area Lam sites, applying and implementing requirements from a systematic perspective and integrating them into Lams business culture. This includes management of Lams environmental regulatory compliance, environmental permits, programs, procedures, policies and support of ISO14001 registration. This position performs a variety of work to ensure compliance through explanation of permit terms and regulatory obligations, recommendation of appropriate action to assure conformance to current and new regulatory requirements, support of operational activities to minimize pollution, oversee or manage projects, maintain and improve the environmental, health and safety management system. Collaborates with all departments and functions as necessary for effective and compliance and Bay Area sustainability activities.

Other Job Responsibilities

* Manage environmental function, of Bay Area EH&S programs from a strategic perspective
* Ensure activities and programs are integrated and reflective of local sites (Fremont and Livermore)
* Maintain Lams environmental regulatory compliance by obtaining/maintaining permits and any recordkeeping requirements.
* Identify and implement environmental programs to prevent environmental impacts
* Evaluate chemicals, alternatives and implement operational/process to prevent EHS impacts
* Maintain policies and procedures related to environmental management
* Track new legislation/regulations and assess impact to Lam and ensure compliance of operations
* Support health and safety programs and activities
* Support ISO14001 certification and internal assessment program
* Participate in tool hook-up design reviews and tool signoffs.
* Serve as agency liaison with federal, state, and local environmental regulatory agencies.

Minimum Qualification

* BS or BA in science or engineering related field. Advanced degree a plus.
* 7-12 years of experience in an environmental related discipline, ideally in the semiconductor, facilities or chemical industry
* Knowledge of EHS regulatory programs, codes, guidelines and agencies.
* Knowledge of chemistry and chemical safety.
* Experience or knowledge of chemical handling, wastewater treatment, waste management, air emissions.
* HazWOper and DOT training preferred.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence and drive message on complex content, in front of peers and management.
