Staff Vice President Internal Audit
The Staff Vice President is a leader of leaders and associates responsible for planning, developing and executing aspects of the internal audit function to ensure compliance with identified strategic goals and objectives, operating standards and applicable laws, policies and standards. This dynamic individual will be responsible for the planning, design, and execution of Anthems internal audit plan. The Staff Vice President position will manage a high-performing audit team to execute an audit plan that measures, evaluates, and recommends changes in financial, operational and managerial controls as required to protect assets, prevent fraud, and maximize operational efficiency for the organization. Other duties will include supporting the reporting requirements to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for directing internal audit teams and managing co-sourced external teams to ensure enterprise risks are appropriately managed.
- Build and lead a high-performing team that continuously advances insights and improves on the department's capabilities (i.e., processes, systems and environment) to deliver superior results and meet changing business needs.
- Assist in leading the continuous risk assessment process which leads to the enterprise audit plan and oversee the execution of this plan.
- Evaluate risk within assigned areas to ensure appropriate controls are in place and being applied consistently.
- Consult with and advise senior management on risk mitigation and areas of deficiency.
- As requested and/or needed, lead consulting engagements that assist management with certain risks or process improvements.
- Assist in reporting to the Audit Committee and providing audit status and detail related to various governance, process and/or internal control issues.
- Hire high-performing and talented associates; train and coach internal auditors to achieve excellent outcomes and performance; and evaluate the performance of direct reports.
Qualifications
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Bachelors degree in Accounting of Finance.
- CPA or CIA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years experience performing financial and/or operational audits of large, complex and highly automated systems.
- 5+ years of management experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team in an extremely fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Proven success in influencing senior executives and managers. Display personal agility to work across a wide array of businesses and stakeholders to develop the credibility to achieve results.
- Ability and demonstrated track record in architecting and executing large-scale, enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience with change management strategies and implementation.
- Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management.
- Strong understanding of data and the ability to make data-based decisions and create compelling representations using data.
- Superior management skills and ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
- Strong empathy and ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.
- Results-oriented with superior problem-solving skills and ability to effectively manage varied resources to complete a task/project.
- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
