Job Description: This opening is to fill a Firmware/Test Software Engineer role for the Microelectronic Products Department of the Hardware Engineering Center within the Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RIS) business.
The candidate will be involved with the bring-up and characterization of complex mixed-signal ASICs and very high speed analog integrated circuits. The person will work with industry leading design and systems experts, be responsible for developing and validating software to communicate with, acquire and analyze test data for state-of-the-art mixed-signal/RF/High-speed SerDes SoCs. Adherence to best software design practices and high quality firmware validation techniques are expected.

Required Skills:

* Minimum 4+ years of demonstrated related industry experience
* Hands-on experience in writing and validating software to communicate with and configure complex mixed-signal ASICs or high-speed SoCs, and state-of-the-art FPGAs
* Experience in developing low-level protocol code for register communication from scratch
* Hands-on experience working in the lab and troubleshooting hardware/firmware related issues
* Proficient in one or more of these languages: Python, C/C++, MATLAB, Verilog/VerilogA, VHDL
* Experience developing GUI software
* Experience with FPGA programming
* Proficient in commanding test equipment including: spectrum analyzers, signal analyzers, VNAs, high speed oscilloscopes, microwave sources, AWGs
* Experience with TCP/IP programming
* Well-versed in version-control protocol

Desired Skills:

* Experience automating tests and data acquisition highly desirable
* Working knowledge of various high frequency test equipment highly desirable
* Experience in writing and validating test software for high speed mixed-signal ASICs or multi-Gbps digital serial interfaces a plus
* Experience with testing RF or Mixed-signal devices is desirable
* Background and experience in software/software control of lab equipment
* Excellent problem solving and planning skills
* Strong sense of urgency and ownership

Required Education:
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
BS and 4-6 years of experience, MS and 2-4 years of experience, PhD and 0-2 years of experience.

Desired Education:
Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
