The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Materials and Processes Engineer (Level 4) to join our team in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Position Responsibilities:

* Generates specifications, test plans and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes

* Analyzes, evaluates and implements emerging technologies for potential application to business needs

* Develops and Qualifies new materials, parts and processes to meet requirements

* Integrates new technologies as appropriate

* Conducts test and audit programs of manufacturing and engineering processes to applicable requirements

* Conducts and leads analysis to determine reasons for failures of materials, parts and processes

* Implements corrective and preventative actions responding to non-conformance conditions and RCCAs (Root Cause and Corrective Action)

* Designs, develops and qualifies computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements

* Produces scale-up, process development, verification and validation in the manufacturing environment

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

This is a NASA Safety Sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

* Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

* 5+ years of experience with aerospace/space materials and processes engineering (i.e. materials assessment, contamination control, thermal protection systems, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

* A Bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering

* Experience with Thermal Protection (TP) and Thermal Protection Systems (TPS)

* Experience in spray on and pour applications in addition to substrate clean, water break free (WBF), prime, verification testing, TPS application and verification testing

* Experience in manufacturing techniques and processes used to apply and verify system materials

* Experience in preparing and verification of planning documents used to guide and clarify processes used to compile manufacturing floor procedures and presentation of such to respective boards including but not limited to the Specification Control Board

* Experience in the transition and implementation of material and process lab qualification data and requirements to efficient and effective manufacturing processes

* Experience with contamination control engineering

* Experience in Contamination Control and the application in Space Flight Vehicles

* Experience with Government, Industry and Engineering Specification

* Experience in processes and materials used in space flight vehicles such as bonding adhesives, films, tapes, coatings, primers, etc used in nominal, flight and cryogenic environments

* Experience with 2000 series aluminum alloys, Inconel, and titanium

* Experience and understanding of corrosion in 2000 series aluminum alloys

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
