Description

A System Administrator provides technical oversight of hardware and software systems. Normally a SA provides services on systems that affect a number of users. This position will be primarily in classified and virtualized SIPRNET environments. This position will also assist in maintaining current updates for all classified standalone systems.

Duties may include but are not limited to activities such as implementing and maintaining system security and data recovery processes, providing technical support, utilizing automation tools for delivering patches and applications, managing assets, monitoring performance, event notifications and automating desktop support.

In addition to the technical knowledge and skills, a SA must exhibit excellent communication skills. Often working in a team environment with clients and other IT personnel, a system administrator must coordinate and communicate activities, status updates, outage notifications and schedule information.

Maintain skill set required to do job
Maintain an awareness of trends within the technology industry
Install, configure, administer and optimize servers (hardware and operating systems)
Knowledge of VMware hardware and software
Work with customers to distribute SIPR tokens
Create SIPR accounts
Create, maintain, and troubleshoot images
Knowledge of RMF policies
Knowledge of ACAS
Implement STIGs for standalone machines, desktop applications and Operating Systems
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2012/2016 Server, Microsoft Active Directory, and LINUX
Update standalone systems with latest patches
Remediate Operating System and Application Vulnerabilities
Support other Information Assurance Officers with daily security activities as needed
Install, configure and maintain LAN system hardware (switches, hubs, etc.)
Install, configure network printing devices
Ensure system security in compliance with customer policy including virus protection
Perform other hardware and software tasks as assigned

Qualifications - External

Typically requires an Associate degree in a computer field and six (6) years of related experience. Progressive relevant training and/or certification may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement.

A grace period of 6 months from hire may be granted to qualified candidates who meet the minimum education/experience requirements and hold a current Security+CE certification.
