Scope of Position:

In this role, you will design and build prototype and production assembly machines and related equipment for manufacturing, this may include but is not limited to: Construction of machine frames, fixtures, jigs and pick and place stations, diagrams logic systems for functions such as sequence and timing of devices. We look for you to also consult for Manufacturing, through observation, evaluation and analysis, technical issues related to product or equipment designs, associated with existing production automation.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

* Work with Manufacturing and Product Development groups on evaluating and implementing capacity, cost reduction and new opportunities.
* Work with vendors on automation designs to meet equipment specifications, to determine feasibility, project scope, costs, and timelines.
* Lead and participate in equipment design reviews, document changes and follow-up with vendors. Communicate progress through all levels of the organization
* Conduct new equipment acceptance trials at vendors.
* Direct the installation and training of new assembly equipment into manufacturing.
* Manage assigned project capital spending Projects:
* Project manage new automation equipment efforts as they arise.
* Support maintenance / production as required in the redesign or acquisition of replacement parts for assembly equipment.
* Documents new concepts and makes and checks engineering drawings.
* Write SOPs, maintenance requirements, spare parts lists and job change and set up specifications. May issue change orders as required.
* Conduct vendor visits as required for project status reviews.
* Key Decision Areas:
* Vendor selection for prototype or production assembly machines or related equipment.
* Performance evaluation of new assembly machines or related equipment.
* Prioritizes projects and activities based on manufacturing requirements and Plant Objectives.
* Project related spending.

Travel Requirements:

* We anticipate less than 5% travel is required for this role.

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

* Normal working hours are M F, 7 AM 4 PM.
* Overtime could be required and a flexible schedule to accommodate 24/7 production support is required.
* Informal 24/7 coverage for ad-hoc call-in support is required.

Required Education:

* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
* Prefer Associates or Technical Degree.

Required Years and Area of Experience:

* Minimum of 2+ years experience in a technical role working with automated equipment within a manufacturing environment.

Required Skills:

* Design software knowledge (Solidworks).
* Creative/innovative problem solving.
* MS Office; particularly Word, Access and Excel; we will need you to have the ability to build queries, set up spreadsheets with formulas, etc.

Desired Experience / Skills:

* Deep knowledge of plastic extrusion/UV processing technologies.
* Data analysis skills.
