We're the Windows Protocols team. We are responsible for supporting and driving the Microsoft Antitrust & Interoperability Compliance program and chartered with ensuring that Microsoft engineering groups meet regulatory requirements and corporate principles for interoperable software. Our mission is to enhance protocol program processes and to provide developers in the ecosystem with friction-free interoperability with the products we support.
We're looking for an experienced content developer to work with Windows engineering teams to create complete, detailed technical specifications that support external implementers, internal engineering, and IT Pros debugging complex networked systems. You will partner with agile development teams, program managers, and other content developers. We are a global team of compliance professionals working with partners on four continents -- from North America to Europe to Africa to Asia.

* Partner with engineering teams to develop high-quality interoperability documentation and Microsoft protocol specifications
* Leverage your project management experience throughout the end-to-end content lifecycle -- from planning to writing to publishing to maintenance
* Work cross-functionally with all areas affected by the program, including engineering teams, CELA, support, process partners, etc.
* Guide feature team owners through the protocol documentation process including the use of the cross-company publication tools, ensuring SLAs and other requirements are met
* Work with engineering and support teams to improve documentation accuracy, clarity, and coverage
* Triage documentation defects and work with engineering teams to analyze and resolve issues
* Find or create opportunities to improve workflow, automate processes, and gain efficiencies
* Innovate with partners to deliver the best technical content experience for customers -- from documentation to tools and automation to customer events
* Distill customer and business insights into end-to-end scenarios; measure, understand, and improve documentation and the workflow supporting it; drive semester planning and delivery of content
* Analyze user feedback, usage data, competitor documentation, and historical data to shape content and prioritize content development
* Coordinate the work of external content vendors to scale content development efforts (as needed)
Required Qualifications:
* 5+ years of proven experience creating and delivering developer-oriented documentation (be prepared to provide content samples upon request)
* 3+ years of proven project management skills and experience working directly with development teams, management, and leadership
* A proactive, and open-minded attitude to resolving problems and delivering results
* Passion to thrive in a fast-paced, quickly-changing environment
* Reading knowledge of C++, XML, and/or other languages and scripts
Preferred Qualifications
* Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technical Writing, or equivalent work experience
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
* Familiarity with networking principles and technology (e.g., UDP, HTTP, TCP/IP, etc.)
* Experience with any of the following protocols and technologies: SMB/CIFS; RDP; REST, SOAP, and web services; RPC, COM, and OLE; OS X, iOS, Android, Linux or other non-Microsoft OS, and open source frameworks
* Experience integrating proprietary and open systems with Microsoft products and operating systems
* Experience with XML-based publishing systems
* Experience working directly with customers
* Experience with compliance or antitrust regulation
