Director for PTG Quality
Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a Director for PTG Quality to support the Quality improvement initiatives within the Power Tools Group (PTG) at their Global Tools & Storage Headquarters (GTS) in Towson, MD. Major Responsibilities:

* Focus on delivering exceptional quality with the PTG plants and NPD teams. Deliver performance improvements across critical KPIs. Identify areas for opportunity and work with the respective teams to drive continuous improvement and change management.
* Ensure manufacturing processes are capable. Use PPAP to approve the capability of new manufacturing processes. Use Six Sigma to improve capability of existing manufacturing processes.
* Identify opportunities to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality while improving quality performance across the organization. Work with teams to drive best practice resulting in cost saving delivery.
* Represent the PTG Quality team with leaders across the PTG BU. Develop and present updates to senior management.
* Leverage Six Sigma best practices to drive continuous improvement across the organization.
* Support the DCs with Quality Audits, Quality Holds, Rework Plans with Corrective Actions. Install strong Quality process control to avoid any process escape. Leverage Quality Assurance procedures and Control Plan (IQC, IPQC and FQA, control of non-conforming materials)
* Leverage and foster predictive technologies and data analytics.
* Collaborate with the Quality Data Analytics team to identify strategies to improve Quality performance across the organization.
* Identify skills gaps across the organization and drive improvements.
* Identify any roadblocks & eliminate these through working creatively within the team to provide solutions.
* Drive actions to support the Voice of the Customer. Lead any customer complaint and problem-solving until resolution.
* Support formal Safety, Risk Assessment or Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions processes for any critical customer concerns, product and process issues, and high warranty returns. Partner with manufacturing plants on process improvement and/or with engineering on design changes when necessary.
* Support NA Aftersales (RLC & WEC). Lead long-term initiatives to reduce PTG Warranty exposure. Escalate all safety concerns based on technician observations. Support collection and participate in teardowns where needed. Maintain relationship with RLC site management teams (non-SBD) for Personnel Issues, HR policy adherence, and staffing additions/subtractions.
* Support Design Center Certification: ISO & ICC/ES. Lead internal audits, track and assist in corrective actions, host external audits and participate in steering committee.
* Manage MQCs (Major Quality Concerns) for PTG supporting supplier improvement and performance initiatives via updating reporting, coaching teams through CAPA, and communicating issues.

Requirements:
Bachelors Degree, preferably in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality/Reliability)
Required experience and skills include:
10+ years of professional work experience with direct proven experience in the following areas:

* Strong Leadership Skills to set the direction for the PTG Quality Team and work cross-functionally to achieve results.
* Build and maintain relationships with key leaders across the various functions (quality, engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, marketing, finance, supply chain & compliance) around the globe, in addition to building and maintaining relationships with key component and finished goods suppliers.
* Organized and disciplined with logical approach to data management.
* Strong project management skills, solid analytical skills and a strong attention to detail are required.
* Experience with Quality Management Systems ISO 9001
* Experience with Quality Assurance Processes and New Product Development approval process
* Lean Six Sigma certification desired with proven experience in Quality Assurance, APQP/PPAP, DMAIC, GR&R, Cpk/Cmk, SPC, FMEA, Control Plan, problem solving 5Ys/8Ds.
* Communicates effectively both internally and externally.
* Self-starter, able to self-motivate and complete tasks with limited supervision.
* Technical experience using quality best practices in the design and manufacturing of consumer and professional power tools products
* Experience with market research/insights, focus groups, conjoint analysis, etc a plus.
* Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
* Experience working in a global matrix organization.
* Ability to think creatively to develop ideas and break through barriers.
* Lead by influence without authority.
* Global experience and interest with willingness to travel & communicate both domestically and globally.
