The primary responsibility of this position is on-shift monitoring and management oversight of plant processes and trends, and performing hands-on field work and troubleshooting. This position works closely with concentrator operations, control room operators and process engineers to analyze the process and make necessary changes to keep the plant process stable.
Ensure that operations are operating in a cost effective manner and as efficiently as possible by monitoring key process indicators on a continuous basis.
Provide positive process related direction, oversight and leadership in a heavy industrial environment.
Coordinate with the control room operator to perform an in-depth analysis of concentrator processes and laboratory data at the start of each shift.
Coordinate with concentrator operations, control room operator and process engineers to optimize the performance of the process through use of the control system and field instruments.
Work with support groups to ensure process is in compliance (environmental, quality, safety).
Coordinate with operators and control room operator to troubleshoot and take corrective actions during process upsets.
Using a collaborative approach, take corrective actions when concentrate or pellet quality is off spec to correct conditions affecting quality.
Communicate with plant operations, plant maintenance, engineering and management staff to accomplish common goals.
Plan ahead by interpreting trends and identifying similarities between past and current situations/events, and make decisions to anticipate future direction.
Control product quality within defined specifications. Explore, analyze and execute ideas/methods to improve product quality to meet internal and external customer expectations.
Minimum of 2-year degree in mining, process or other related field OR at least 3-5 years work experience in a mining, process or mineral related field is required. Internal candidates must have a minimum of Concentrator Operations Technician 1 level knowledge.
* Previous successful leadership experience is required (i.e. team/project leader, step-up supervisory role, training coordinator, back-up control room operator etc.). Must provide examples of how past leadership experiences have improved operations.
* Computer Skills Must be skilled in personal computers (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and have the ability to learn and be proficient with other various Company information systems. Must achieve a passing score on required computer assessment tests.
* Ellipse, DCS and PCL knowledge is a plus.
* Decision Making & Organizational Skills Must possess strong troubleshooting and organizational skills and be able to resolve problems regarding equipment, materials, methods, processes and procedures in a timely manner.
