Job Description

Description:

Position Description: Member of Engineering Staff, Electrical Engineer

The Position

L3HARRIS is seeking an Electrical Engineer (EE) to perform as a key contributor on its engineering team, responsible for the end-to-end design and development of high-speed digital and analog electronic modules, circuits, and subsystems for L3HARRIS's next generation of communications products, systems, and solutions. S/he will derive and allocate hardware requirements, generate design concepts to satisfy operational and functional requirements, design and develop digital and analog electrical circuits and subsystems optimized for performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost, and advance designs through release and production.

Technologies typical to the designs include microprocessors, FPGAs, program and data memories, voltage regulators, power reset sequencers, mixers, analog filters and components, A/D and D/A conversion, PHY's and interface transceiver circuits. The EE role involves capture of schematic diagrams and models in our CAD tool suites, selection of printed circuit board (PCB) substrate materials, participation in peer and formal internal design reviews, providing guidance to ECAD for PCB layout and routing, and generation of all design and test documentation and deliverables. The EE oversees PCB first article build and integration, conducted at our L3HARRIS on-campus advanced manufacturing and assembly facility. The EE will also be involved in prototype test and verification of the electronics assemblies, providing support for firmware and software integration as applicable.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside some of industry's most talented engineers in the electronics communications field and contribute to electrical design and development throughout the entire product life cycle.

Position Requirements

The successful candidate(s) will possess:

* BSEE required; MSEE preferred
* 2 years minimum applicable experience required
* Experience in digital and analog circuit board design and test
* Experience with industry standard CAD tools, Mentor Graphics Expedition preferred
* Experience using laboratory test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
* Familiarity with standard electronic interfaces, such as
* I2C, USB, RS-232, Ethernet, SATA, PCIe
* Strong writing skills
* U.S. Citizenship required
* Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance required

Experience in the following areas would be considered highly beneficial:

* Current possession of a US Government Secret security clearance
* Experience working in the US Defense industry
* Familiarity with Printed Circuit Board fabrication and effects on electrical design (e.g. stackup definition/layer count, via structures, trace structures, trace impedance, etc.)
* Signal Integrity/Power Integrity analysis and design
* RF communication theory and design
* High speed electrical interfaces (e.g. LVDS, CAUI)
* Power supply design
* Embedded microprocessor
* VHDL design experience with embedded FPGA SoC, such as the Xilinx Zynq
* JTAG and design for test techniques
* MIL-STD-461 EMI/EMC Testing
* TEMPEST Design and Testing
