Oracle IT are actively working to hire a Senior Telemetry Engineer (working in an SRE organisational model) with strong, practical experience of Cloud-era Telemetry solutions (full stack monitoring, logging, instrumentation and operational dashboards) to join the Business & Platform Solutions team. Our team produces engineered, software-based services and tooling to monitor, inform and automate actions against IT managed environments and applications delivered from the Oracle Cloud. The primary objectives are to increase reliability and compliance against service level objectives & policy targets, continuously reducing operational toil through world class telemetry and data-led automation solutions.
The successful candidate will be a proven technical leader, able to persevere through complexity and ambiguity and bring others along with you. You will possess strong, experience-informed technical and business knowledge and know how to identify/interpret needs in to cost-effective, modern and innovative cloud-focused solutions. You will be part of a senior first-team having full ownership of products and services through all stages of the definition and design, development/build, and operational lifecycle support. You will work directlty with Operations teams, Senior IT leadership and Oracle Cloud Product teams, serving as the technical authority in ensuring the ongoing delivery of right-sized telemetry solutions and clear, negotiated and costed solutions roadmaps.
Candidates are expected to have broad working knowledge across multiple domains, though specialization is important. We're looking for someone with 5+ years of experience working in a cross functional DevOps/SRE role, with specific experience of: Telemetry Architecture/Solutions, Software Engineering/Automation, Linux Systems Engineering, Networking and Distributed Systems.
Mandatory Qualification/Experience includes:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent related field experience
* Expert knowledge of two or more of the following: Java, Python, Scala, Go, Ruby, including Object Oriented programming
* Expert knowledge of telemetry service architectures and related Oracle and industry products: Oracle Enterprise Manager/Oracle Management Cloud, Mpulse, Selenium, Fluentd, Logstash Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
* Expert knowledge of web application architectures and technologies like WebLogic, OHS, Apache, etc.
* Experience with Dockers, Kubernetes (OKE, AKE, EKE, GKE or others), networking protocols, advanced tools and troubleshooting techniques
* Experience building cloud native solutions on one or more of Oracle OCI, Google GCP, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, etc.
* Experience working with fault tolerant, highly available, high throughput, distributed, scalable systems1
* Aptitude to be a good team player and the desire to learn and implement new Cloud technologies as needed
* Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Solve complex problems related to infrastructure cloud services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence. Design, write, and deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services. Design and develop designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems. Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.
Work with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas. Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services. Responsible for the design and delivery of the mission critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance. Authority for end-to-end performance and operability. Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture. Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide Development Teams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud service portfolio. Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack. Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles. Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems. Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.
A BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent. Identifies and implements complex solutions to knowledge of server hardware and software configuration, networking, standard internet services, scripting languages, cloud computing patterns, technology security and compliance. Experience running large scale customer facing web services. Identifies and implements complex solutions to understanding of load balancing technologies and experience with development in programming languages, databases and big data stores, and container technologies. Work involves defining and documenting technical architecture of complex and highly scalable products. A minimum of 8+ years experience of running large scale customer facing web services.
Colorado Pay Range: From %2488,737 to %24159,727 per annum
