Description
Develop implement and oversee the Freeport Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Program. Develops UAS Aviation Goals and Objectives with associated strategies that support UAS requirements at all mine sites and functional areas. Provide UAS operational and fiscal oversight of all UAS activities ranging from regulatory compliance to post processing data management.
* UAS Program Strategic Goals and Objectives development and implementation -Develop and implement long term UAS goals and objectives and act as the program manager and coordinator for all corporate efforts. Primary coordinator and synchronizer of the UAS effort, ensures actions between the Aviation Team and the Technical Center UAS Team achieve organizational goals and objectives. Develops and implements all sustainment requirements in support of global UAS operations.
* UAS Program Management Provides program oversight of all UAS activities and initiatives. Conducts the UAS Bi-weekly all call meetings and coordinates the UAS advisory board. Responsible for the UAS task tracker and the development and oversight of all required work flows to ensure UAS Program success.
* UAS Safety, Standardization and Training Provide oversite of UAS safety, standardization and training programs. Primary training integrator for site specific training as well as long term training requirements with the Mine Training Institute. Provides oversite to the UAS pilot program through the administration and utilization of the Skyward UAS Software and ensure all required certifications and licensing are current. Interfaces with the Health and Safety department to merge FAA and MSHA safety requirements. Conducts UAS Safety and Accident investigations as required and maintains the UAS incident register. Reviews UAS accident reports and directs the development of and participates in the UAS accident prevention programs.
* Government Aviation Regulatory agency (FAA, NTSB, DGCA, etc.) coordination -Confers with Federal, State, local or host Government officials on development, interpretation and revision of UAS rules and regulations applicable to UAS operations. Corporate Lead to develop and submit all PART 107 waivers and exceptions. Confers with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and other international agencies regarding UAS accidents and Industry best practices.
* Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum
* Bachelors degree Aviation Administration, Business Administration, or closely related field and ten (10) years experience in the Aviation/UAS Management field OR
* High School Diploma or GED and fourteen (14) years experience in the Aviation/UAS Management Field.
* Must meet FAA requirements to obtain a FAA PART 107 UAS License
* 3 years of UAS operational experience
* Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
* Must be an effective leader with the ability to teach, coach and mentor.
Preferred
* Masters degree in Business Administration Aviation
* +5 years as a UAS pilot or +10 years as an operational pilot
* Airline Transport Pilot (ATP), Instructor Pilot or Aviation Safety Manager qualified.
Criteria/Conditions
* Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
* Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator.
* Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting.
* Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
* Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
* Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
* Position requires moderate (20-25%) international and domestic travel to remote locations.
* Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
* Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state laws
