Primary Duties: Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on all plant/facility equipment. Perform mechanical maintenance on plant HVAC equipment. Troubleshoot and diagnose machine or equipment electrical issues and repair as needed. Run conduit and wire equipment. Must be able weld and be able to do metal fabrication.
Tools Required: Hand and power tools, all shop equipment (lathe, milling machine, band saw, pipe threader, welder, etc.), company issued lockout/tagout devices, OSHA approved air nozzle for compressed air, respirator, safety shoes, safety glasses, test meter, all mobile equipment (including the company truck when necessary), and ear plugs
Materials Used: Lubricants, chemicals, filter media, wire, metals, wood, plastic, glass
Supervision Exercised: None; Receives instructions from Maintenance Crew Leader and/or Maintenance Manager.
Job Procedures:
Follow all established plant and job specific safety rules.
Must be certified in Springfield’s Powered Industrial Trucks training. Must drive company truck for company errands when needed.
Responsible for general electrical and mechanical maintenance including but not limited to, facility electrical and production equipment and fire protections systems.
Responsible for operating various shop equipment including lathes, milling machines, welders, cutting torch, pipe threader, and various saws.
Functional knowledge of electrical maintenance and troubleshooting required, as well as safe work practices.
Experienced in A/C and D/C controls and motors required.
Verify ad record temperature and relative humidity readings at all stations throughout the plant at assigned intervals.
Make adjustments to controls, supply grills, ducts, valves, and other equipment to maintain specified temperature and relative humidity requirements.
Maintain, change and/or clean filter media in the filter houses and air washes.
Check functional operation of all assigned equipment at assigned intervals.
Check and maintained water treatment chemicals (if assigned).
Change or adjust fan belts as needed to maintain proper operation of fan units.
Weld (Stick and Mig) also be able to fabricate parts as needed.
Clean air conditioning and cooling equipment.
Maintain, change, and/or repair pumps and motors as needed.
Maintain housekeeping and organization of materials in the assigned work area.
Work on special projects as requested by management.
Advise management of any items that need to be ordered to maintain or repair plant equipment.
Perform all other duties as directed by management.
Minimum Job Requirements: Must have previous electrical maintenance experience, preferably textile related, including greige manufacturing. Must be able to read and write and have good communication skills. Basic math and computer skills are required. Must be able to lift and move loads up to 50 lbs. Job requires frequent climbing of steps/ladders, pushing, pulling, bending, and kneeling. Must be able to read control diagrams. Competency testing may be required. Must be cleared by Occupational Nurse for vision and color vision.
