DESCRIPTION

Amazon is seeking a motivated candidate to provide insights into operational issues, analyze the root cause and provide recommendations for improvements. Role will require data analysis, understanding of the systems workflow, cross-functional communication and issues management. The primary focus will be on building cost data that satisfies multiple internal use cases from simple reporting, to high-level decision-making, to determining the tactical flows of packages.

As a BIE in Transportation Planning you will be impactful to the customer experience by taking a data-driven approach to identifying and prioritizing the most impactful efforts. You will have opportunities to communicate at all levels internally and externally, both spoken and written. You will work in a rapidly changing space and learn new tools and systems. Amazon Transportation is an environment that is deadline driven, fast paced and you will need to be detail-oriented and comfortable interacting or working with cross-functional business and technical teams. Your role will require you to be decisive in an often ambiguous environment.
This role offers an opportunity to drive and influence business-critical decisions that will reduce overall transportation costs, while we continue to increase the speed and quality at which we deliver our customers orders.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

BS in Computer Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, Economics/Applied Economics or in another quantitative and engineering field
3+ years of experience in using quantitative analysis.
3+ years of experience with BI analytics/ reporting/visualization tools
3+ experience with any of the following: Ruby, Perl, Oracle, Redshift, SQL

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate degree in Engineering, Logistics, or another quantitative field preferred.
Familiarity with supply chain management concepts - forecasting, planning, optimization, and logistics - gained through work experience or graduate level education.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The role requires effective communication with senior management as well as with colleagues from operations and business backgrounds.
3+ experience preferred with all of the following: Ruby, Perl, Oracle, Redshift, SQL
Experience with Tableau
