Position:
Vice President in the Independent Price Verification (Valuation Review) Group.
An opportunity for an individual to join a global team responsible for ensuring over $50bn of gross trading inventory is appropriately valued. The roll will provide an exciting work environment with significant learning and growth opportunities as well as direct contact with senior individuals across all aspects of Jefferies.
The IPV group provides independent valuation opinions across the entire range of financial instruments within the firm’s sales and trading inventory as well as pushing forward multiple renovation initiatives. The team provides a critical role in ensuring the firms books and records accurately represent fair value and are a key liaison with the Front Office Trading desks, Investment Banking, Product Control, Risk, Middle Office and IT.
This role will provide an individual a unique opportunity to learn, grow, experience and understand the workings of a growing investment bank.
Responsibilities:
Lead the Valuation Review team for Private Equity/ Alternative Investments across the US.
Review all inventory positions to ensure they are marked at fair value.
Perform periodical and ad-hoc fair value analysis of a growing portfolio of Private Equities/ Alternative Investments.
Ongoing monitoring of industry trends, accounting standards and regulatory developments in relation to Private Investments
Support development of valuation methodologies (e.g. liquidation preference option models, DCF, Revenue/ EBITA multiple valuations, recovery/ credit valuations, etc) models, tools, and procedures for best practice valuation.
Interact with various internal and external parties including trading desk, investment managers, controllers, portfolio company management , audit and regulators.
Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, disclosures and presentations.
Background and Qualifications
5+ years of Private Equity and Alternative Investment experience
Knowledge and expertise in Private Equities, Private debt valuation
Robust understanding and experience in financial markets and associated financial instruments

Deep understanding of the principles and methodologies used in valuation of illiquid assets
Strong analytical skills and a flair for scrutinizing financial reports
Strong Excel skills and understanding of formula driven analysis for management reporting.
Bloomberg skills a plus
